This is a lose - lose for the leafs on here.

If we take him "Leafs building the team on the wings with small skill players. Rebuild = fail"

If we pass on him, and we know he is going to be good
"lol leafs passed on him, so much for great scouting".

He is very small and not a great skater.

Maybe 5 years away from making the jump.

Definitely top 20 tough

I think it's a good idea to have seen a player before you comment on him.

You seem to have an agenda when it comes to everything Sweden related.

Are we watching the same player? Small? He's not small, not big either and a good skater. Ah saw the avatar now.. Little brother. :D

At times it's so embarrassing to read our Swe vs Fin comments here :shakehead

I'd happily take him on the Bruins if we had a 5-7 pick.

maybe 6'0 176 lbs is not bad for a 17 year old.

whats his style like? heard he's more like a Markus Naslund.

TSN has him at 6'0 194 in the rankings they have been showing throughout the world juniors tournament.

He plays a lot like his brother but he has a better shot and more mature game than William in his draft year.

I have not seen Alex listed at more than 190lbs anywhere.

~176-179lbs is what he has been listed at by most outlets this year.

Though I think he could quite possibly be listed at 6'1 for the draft in all actuality... since he is measured at 184-185cm in metric units... which is on the cusp of the 6,0.5 that dictates whether a player is listed at 6'0 or 6'1.

I imagine come draft time he is listed/measured at 6'1 and ~185lbs. Which is really not small by any means!

Really impressed by his all-around development in the last year... he looks better every-time you see him play.

any link to a nylanders weight at 194?

Here is that TSN graphic I was talking about... He doesn't look 195 to me.

ahh nice thanks man. wow little nylander is pretty big then, hes literally the same size as zetterberg (Z has 1 more pound ...) and hes only 17, im blown away

i cant decide who the leafs should take at 5-7 spot im torn between mcleod and nylander atm

Nylander is listed as the same size as Grundström. Grundström is built like a tank, Alex is clearly lighter. That's obviously a typo.

funny you say that nylander has to be lighter could it not be possible that grundstrom is perhaps listed lighter instead?
or that grundstrom isnt as big as you think he is, or that nylanders weight is more disreputed then grundstrom. :naughty:

Just look at them. Grundström is 6'0 194 lbs at best. There is just no way Nylander is even close to that weght. His numbers there are incorrect.

Muscle weighs more than fat, so if Nylander is jacked like his brother, then it's possible. though I agree it's unlikely.

If William returns to the tourney, take note how much taller Alex looks on the ice, while being 2 years younger. He'd got decent enough size, it won't be an issue at all.

Alex Nylander 1+1 already against Canada today. He is showing he is abBig game player thus far. I think this kid is going be better than his brother.

Imo he's been more impressive then William was last year. A virulent 2-way force. And that as an underager.

He does seem to have a gigantic chip on his shoulder. Every interview i've seen they ask something about his brother and every time his facial expressen have frozen and a fire lights in his eyes and then he gives an almost forced answer like he hates every word that has to be about how great his brother is. Wouldn't suprise me if he goes alot further with his will alone. It looks like he has everything to prove.

100% agree Alex will be better than Nylander in every aspect except maybe agility. What a phenomenal player. He is in the top 5 for sure this coming June.
