anyone who thinks he is rode passenger to McDavid this season, I'd refer them to the game he just played tonight

He'll still eclipse 100 points next year. The late birthday will benefit him as he'll disprove the 'coattail rider' critics. There are reasons specific to DeBrincat as to why McDavid plays as well/better with him than two other very good and much older prospects in Elie and Baptiste.

3 points away from 100, a goal away from 50 in his predraft year, pretty impressive.

Still two games to go. I'd like to see 50-50

He certainly has a knack for scoring goals. Very impressive. However, his production plummeted significantly without McDavid in the lineup going off Pronman's numbers. Hopefully next season he can step it up when he's called upon to lead the team with Strome.

When I attended the Otters training camp this season, DeBrincat immediately stood out. One of my colleagues looked at me and said "is it unreasonable that this guy could put up 75 points this season if he plays with McDavid?"

My reply: "Yes, no chance. He's a waterbug but there's a huge transition between where he came from and the OHL."

Fast forward to the end of the season?

Wow, I was wrong and this kid is fantastic. Even without McDavid, I think he gets to 75 points. Can't wait to see what he produces next season and if he can translate his game to another line.

Alex is the first rookie in the OHL since Patrick Kane scored 50 goals....yeah I think scouts are noticing...same issues Kane had about size are quickly vanishing...kid has dropped the gloves a number of times most recently sticking up for McDavid...have to love that.

I also love seeing him going after the 6'6 Michael McCarron...this kid doesn't back down. :yo:

if he scores 3 goals today he will lead the entire OHL in goals....as a 17 year old rooke...:handclap:

he was over a ppg without McDavid...wouldn't call that plummeting at all..

my numbers were 24 points in 22 games....hardly something to discredit from a 1-17 year old rookie.

Another monster game for the kid...I am sure people will say it was because of McDavid. ..oh wait...now it will be because of Strome...kid produces plain and simple. 51 goal rookie year...he is in elite company

His style the three times I saw them, mind you my focus was NOT on him, he reminded me of Brenden Gallagher. Went to the net, worked hard down low.. like someone said, sometimes he's a little spark plug.

Man I'd never heard if this cat before tonight. Love the way he plays the game. Smaller guys that play fearless and can't be intimidated are awesome.

I'm not good at back searching old topics and posts...

But I'd take a guess to say that Gallagher's prospect thread was probably very similar to this guy's. You can tell his compete level is better than everyone else on the ice. He has speed and finish around the net.

Teams let Gallagher drop way further than he should have. We'll see where Mr. Debrinkcat's career takes him.

kid looked great tonight. Plays a little chippy. He projects out to somewhere in between Tyler Ennis and Branden Gallagher.
