I just watched the hit like you told me to buddy. ATLEAST 3 steps, probably 4 or 5, even the announcers said it. Also he was in a vunerable position. He started to skate faster as he saw this. Its DIRTY.
Watch a little closer next time...

Ruutu was skating towards the blueline and took three strides, away from Jagr. When he saw that Jagr kept possession he changed direction, and took TWO small strides to do that. When he did this Jagr did NOT have his head down.

I can see why some people would think why that was a clean hit: Ruutu came in from the side and checked him with his shoulder. FLYLine is absolutely right.

I don't care if it technically looks like a clean hit or not, Ruutu made a horrid decision. He flew in there to check a guy who was already tied up, already prone and totally unable to defend himself. There was only ever going to be one result of that hit: an injury. He could have won the puck, but instead he went headhunting. As a Finn, I'm very disappointed.

I hope Jagr is ok and that he comes back in the 3rd.

When ruutu began his "charge" Jagr was standing up. Pretty hard to let up in the last second.

But the fact that its still charging change the fact that it's still a dirty hit because its a penalty? Once again I speak of the unwritten rule book. This is something you don't do. I don't care if its Jagr your hitting or some boarderline 4thliner. It something you don't do. It dirty and scumbagish. Ruutu will get what he deserves over the coarse of the rest of the NHL season

It's too bad you guys can't enjoy a bit of humor relating to someone who is out of the game with a minor cut. There's really no need for the personal attacks (which I could report, but see no need to).

For the record, I obviously don't want Jaromir Jagr to bleed to death as I'm sure most people figured out. Oh, and just to make that clear, here is a row of smilies.

:) :) :) :) :)

You're a pretty sick man to get humor out of that.

Not surprising from you though, from a person who still can't get over 1999.

Who is going to give it to him, someone on the Rangers? Someone from the Czech team? Please.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it yet in this thread but Finland had a delayed penalty during the play and all Ruutu had to do was touch the puck in order to stop play... :dunno:

Do you have any idea what is even going?

He received a Game Misconduct.

I'm not sure "what is even going"

I heard the announcer say misconduct, not game misconduct. Probably an announcer mistake.

There are too many posts to edit to take out that Jagr comment from SabreRat, but please let's keep that kind of sentiment out of this thread. I don't care if it's sarcasm or not, it's bad form.

Any quoting of that post or this one will result in additional warning points being levied. Keep it clean, gentlemen. If you have any questions or concerns, PM me.

Colton Orr will have be lucky to catch Ruutu on the ice on one of his three shifts for that to happen..

It ain't 85-86 with Semenko cruising side by side with the Gretzky.

I didn't see it live, but looked pretty clean on the one replay I saw. Didn't hit him from behind or with an elbow.
Yeah. It was a charge, but that's about it.

Did I mention Colton Orr in any of my posts? :sarcasm:

Not all posters will see your post and quote the questionable post. Isn't that unfair to warn them? :dunno:

I hate Ruutu with a passion, however, I seen the hit and it seems as though Ruutu had perfect body position and Jagr was hunching over near the boards. Always a bad combination. I do not feel it was a dirty hit. . . there were no elbows involved and he did not leave his feet.

However, Ruutu could have let up a little bit when he realized Jagr's valnurable position. . .

Many people hate Ruutu, but he believes his job is to be a pest. The problem is that he is rather obnoxious about it. He'll do something dirty to you and then laugh and smile in your face to rub it in.
