Ruutu's cheapshot on Jagr

How can a hit be boarding when every part of Jagr's body was against the boards? A clean shoulder-to-shoulder hit. Jagr just put his head down at the last second which Ruutu couldn't do anything about - and because of that he hit his head on the boards and the helmet cut his face. Maybe, naybe, charging - but even that wouldn'tve been called if Jagr hadn't cut himself on his own helmet.

You are blind. Jagr had his head down the whole way. It was dirty so fess up.

he charged at him when he was already being checked and smashed his head into the boards. are you ****ing blind? stupid ****s

If you think that was a clean hit you know absolutly nothing about hockey
He didn't use an elbow and it wasn't from behind. The only thing I saw wrong with it was it was a bit of a charge but thats it. It shouldn't have been a five minute major.

How does Jagr having his head down make the hit dirty? It was charging, but everything about the hit was perfectly clean. Jagr should have learned his lesson after Fedoruk did the exact same hit to him years ago.

Boarding = Going Violently into the boards.

and a player goes violently into the boards when a player is in a VULNERABLE position like Jagr was.

You obviously don't know hockey.

Incredibly stupid move by Ruutu. I wouldn't go as far as saying that he tried to injure Jagr, though when it comes to Ruutu, you can simply never be sure. So what if he plays for Finland and so what if he used to play for my favorite team; HIFK. He does cheap tricks like that occasionally and the bad reputation he's got is entirely his own fault.

If he doesn't get a longer suspension because of this, I hope they bench him for the tournament.

The Swedish studio guys are coming down on Ruutu like a Baptist preacher would on a child molester. Righteous anger cometh!

Lol thats a great line.

I just saw that hit and it was NOT ****ing clean.

He aimed for the head and came from across the ice while Jagr was held up by another player.

Of course, Jagr's crappy helmet didn't help...

Jagr had his head up when Ruutu was lining up for the hit. When Ruutu was 6 feet away from him, Jagr dove his head down. At the point impact of Jagr's head was down under where the glass starts. Nothing that Ruutu could do about it at that point with something like 0,1 seconds to react.

Hitting a player that's battling along the boards with someone isn't illegal and neither have I heard that it would be dirty? Didn't hit from behind, shoulder-to-shoulder, just two strides of acceleration. Too bad that Jagr was injured but the two main reasons for that were a) his helmet and b) him diving his head down at the last second.

I have only seen it once but it was not boarding from what I saw. You can say that I dont know nothing about hockey all you want but I'm pretty sure I know a lot more than you do.

Stupid, stupid move by Ruutu I think. I haven´t liked Ruutu ever. :shakehead I don´t like Jagr much, but I hope he´s ok.

Is Jagr hurt?

Not that it would matter for the Rangers, since Henrik Lundqvist is god.

Ranger fan here.. it would definitely matter if Jagr is hurt. Lundqvist doesnt score goals.

The only thing illegal about that hit was that he took too many steps, but even if he had stopped skating several feet before he still would have annihilated Jagr.

all i know is that Ruutu got a 5 min penalty, the NBC (usa) guys havent gone into detail on the exact penalty for Ruutu, did he get a game misconduct?

Major and a game misconduct for boarding.

I Can see you've never played the game before, or atleast not at a high level. You NEVER hit another player along the boards that is already being checked and was FALLING down. He was just about on one knee when he got hit. He came in from the blind side took atleast 6 hard strides towards him and put his sholder into his head. This equals dirty. And if you listen to the commentators, this is typical Ruutu and hes not respected throughtout the league and is thought to be a very dirty player. I wish he didn't get the game misconduct so he could get what he deserved.

yes

It was most definitly charging, which can in some sense be equated with intent to injure.

However, it most definitly was NOT boarding. Jagr added to the effect with keeping his head very low near the dasher.

I don't think it warranted a 5 min major or a game misconduct.
