Ruutu is a solid, hard-working team player. His cap might be a little high, but he has the potential to be an excellent Devil. On other hand this fanbase wants all Crosbies and Ovies in the team, and on the other hand returning to the glory days when we had solid, deep and even offensive roster. Ruutu fits the latter.

He's an idiot for giving up a top 15 pick this year for Matteau. All the minor reversals in the world will never change that.

lol i picture lou getting down on his knees to gary begging him to get something back.

maybe gary felt bad after that ruutu trade yesterday

yeah good thinking lets put together the team we had in the 90s. that has to work in 2014 right?

Tuomo Ruutu is practicing with Devils and skating on a line with Ryane Clowe and Michael Ryder.

Odd to put him as a C.

Would much prefer

Ruutu - Zajac - Jagr
Henrique - Elias - Brunner
Clowe - Zubrus - Ryder

Hate to breakup Henrique on LW I suppose. We'll see if there's in game line juggling with Clowe or Ruutu getting a shot with Zajac/Jagr eventually.

It's tantamount to a little kid who was hoping for a BB gun for christmas but ended up getting a new pair of boots. Even if the boots are useful, he will throw a temper tantrum because he didn't get what he wanted.

People wanted Vanek or Moulson and they see Ruutu, so they will b**** no matter what.

Wrong.

I posted my point about a dozen times. Never did I mention Vanek or Moulson.

so its

Clowe - Zajac - Jagr
Henrique - Elias - Brunner
Ruutu - Zubrus - Ryder

pretty much what I expected but with Clowe and Ruutu switched

except its more like getting boots that are the exact same as the boots you have which don't even need to be replaced because they are perfectly fine.

To belabor the analogy, it's more like trading your kinda crappy, but okay black boots, for equally crappy okay brown boots that cost way more. ;)

But I'm really indifferent to this trade. I don't think it'll effect the team's results one way or another this season.

ryan clowe first line? ooooooooooooooooooooooooo my!

Ryane Clowe on the 1st line led to the go ahead goal (the 1st time) on Tuesday night.

And that makes him a 1st line player?

Again I point to the grand scheme. Clowe on the 1st line? Clowe and Zajac on the 1st line?

Very happy Clowe is on the 1st line

Has alot of skill and will do well with Travis/Jagr

Ya know, roster being what it is, I guess, but happy? I think you are a little pick-back drunk.

Equally crappy but older brown boots that cost way more.

And for as much as I'm complaining, maybe Lou and the scout team saw that Ruutu was finally rounding back into form? If so, I can see it helping.

excellent counter.

weve seen enough of Gionta in the final minute of play

we havent seen much of Clowe with those two guys.

if you complain about giving Ruutu a chance before hes bashed, dont complain about this

Like I said, given what we have(a collection of old brown boots) it is what it is.

I do think Clowe has more offensive skill the Zubrus. So that is something.
