It started as Sundsvik, was Niederbach at the end of the period. They were invisible the whole period.

Maybe I need to lower my expectations a bit, but I was expecting a lot more.
I think Holtz and Raymond look fine, but every time they try and generate something, it dies on the centerman's stick. It is really hindering their performance. I feel like every faceoff I see when their line is on the ice, their centerman isn't even taking the draw, its Holtz.

Agreed on Knazyev. And yes Amirov has stepped it up. This is his 19 year old season though, he is not eligible next year.
Good call. If Rodeo doesn't re-up with Ufa, there's a chance we could see Abramov-Amirov in the AHL next season. Would be a pretty dynamic playmaker/shooter tandem much like this Pod-Amirov duo.

One of the best and funniest ending to a regular season game I ever saw was the 2019 early season game between Leafs at Hawks. Austin Matthews and Patrick Kane each scored multi goals late in 3rd for an exciting finish. AM34 did the ear to hand first then Kane copied when he scored. It was HILARIOUS!
I forgot to add this was the No Defense game. Final score ended up being 6-5 as I recall...

36 million Russians watched last years WJC Gold medal game.

It’s so funny when some Americans (not all) try to call this meaningless and no one outside of Canada cares. I don’t think some realize truly how popular this is in the hockey world writ large.

This tournament is massive in several European countries.

Didn't you know that if the USA doesn't care, the world doesn't care.

If Russia wins tonight...

I'll be rooting for the U.S. tomorrow night because, assuming Canada beats Finland, we'd face the Czechs in the quarters and then Finland/Sweden in the Semis. I think that's the easier path.

I think in the last 10 years you have seen the popularity of this tournament explode overseas compared to what it was previously. You will likely never ever see this tournament make a blip in the States...which is fine I guess. It can keep growing everywhere else.
