Usually I hate the stuff the Russians do after goals but I thought that was witty, good job there.

It's certainly better then the bird man or ear to the crowd silliness.
One of the best and funniest ending to a regular season game I ever saw was the 2019 early season game between Leafs at Hawks. Austin Matthews and Patrick Kane each scored multi goals late in 3rd for an exciting finish. AM34 did the ear to hand first then Kane copied when he scored. It was HILARIOUS!

Broberg does not look himself, slow and sloppy. The rumours about ankle injury seem to be right.

Hopefully he’s okay, when he’s away from the play he keeps leaning funny over one leg. I kept noticing it that period. Maybe to alleviate weight off the injured ankle?

Not sure but that’s not his usual highly mobile self. He’s probably the best skater at this tournament and it wasn’t obvious that period, he looked way slower than his usual self.

If Costmar continues to be Sweden’s best forward (player, other than their goalie?) they have no chance of winning. Their top dogs need to get their compete level going. Right now those elite skilled Swedes are not in the battle at all. They are taking the easy route, and hanging outside the dots.

I was like you regarding the bird/flapping wing celly until I heard Kuznetov in an interview mention that it’s for his daughter. After that I was fine with it.
Yeah, he gets a little leniency for that I guess, not much but some.

Can't stand most of that stuff usually, hate when i've seen the Canadian players grabbing the crest and shaking it too, if I never see that again I would be quite pleased.

That was a great moment..............you show em Kaner, put this young punk in his place. Loved it

Who's the center on their line. It seems like the play is dying every time that person touches it.

It started as Sundsvik, was Niederbach at the end of the period. They were invisible the whole period.

Maybe I need to lower my expectations a bit, but I was expecting a lot more.

He did just come off an injury and missed the last game, he keeps like leaning down in weird way away from the play. Something looks off.

Hopefully adrenaline kicks in and/or it’s nothing serious.
He's definitely not 100%. He's very careful in his skating and not at all the usual power in his stride.

He limped just 3-4 days ago and took the elevator instead of the stairs according to reports, so it would be strange if he was 100%.

Amirov with a goal, disallowed goal, PPG in the tournament with 2 periods to play, and still eligible for next year's WJC. Been very impressed with how complete his game is. Lethal around the net.

Knyazev standing out as far as Russia D goes. One of the only guys on that blue line with any modicum of hockey IQ. Solid pick by SJ.

Agreed on Knazyev. And yes Amirov has stepped it up. This is his 19 year old season though, he is not eligible next year.

Post the still shot when he closes the gap closer to the net and forced Podkolzin out of room leading to inference and no goal, that still shot doesn’t show how it ended.

What a bizarre thing to take a still shot of lol

Are you suggesting that Broberg made a good play by not touching Podz till Pod was in the crease. ?

Broberg had zero effect on that play.
Only reason Podz didn’t go crease to crease was because there was a net front battle between Brobergs D partner and Amirov.

He got walked. No big deal. Let’s move on.

they wouldn’t play him with an ankle injury I don’t think. But he seems a bit sluggish no doubt.
I think he’s trying to pass too much. That’s not his game. He’s a puck carrying D man. He makes plays with his feet. He needs to do more of that and less trying to be a fancy passer.

Swedish D getting beat to the net everywhere. Gotta clean that up to have a shot
