If the cap only goes up 1 million we are kinda boned because of the Brown bonus overage. All the more reason to win it all this year lol
It's going up significantly more than $1m.

Everything factored in, the Oilers have just over $10m of cap flexibility before they make decisions on Campbell, Kulak, Ceci and Kane.

New contracts needed for Desharnais, Holloway, Broberg and essentially the entire bottom six aside from McLeod.

It's the following year the Oilers should be mindful of.

Ah I looked at it wrong. It's going up by 4.5 million. We will be fine. Maybe with a buyout we have space for Henrique

I’d trade Ceci this off-season and have Kulak play with Nurse during the season. Find a veteran right shot D in free agency to be in the lineup as the 7th D.

I wouldn’t buyout Campbell due to the years of cap penalty and try to find someone to take him with us retaining 1.5-2 million. If that doesn’t happen just keep him as a backup and see how he does under Knob.

The thing is, Kulak does not like playing the right side

Same here. Like if we win this series I still think there’s A LOT of work to be done this off season. This team can get better in several areas and lose multiple bad contracts.

They made it this far despite having some holes. Fix a couple areas and McDrai could be regularly in the finals for the next few years.
ceci replaced with broberg automatically makes you better. thats a huge plus, connor brown is sufficent to take foegle spot. get rid of campbell and the team is in relatively good shape cap wise

That would be incredible if he would take a sizeable discount. He wouldn't get on the PP, so we may not get full value otherwise.
He would be an upgrade over Nuge and will allow RNH to focus on PK. Could always go back to Nuge on PP if/when the PP starts to go cold

I feel like our bottom 4 D lack some puck movement, would you sign Barrie as a Ceci replacement? Seems like he'd be a steal again after the year he had. He can QB PP2 then for whenever we use them. I feel like you could get him for around 2.5m.

Easy pass on Bouchard if he wants 10M+
The guy would be chased out of town if he gets more than Makar and struggles for a few games.
Good luck finding the next Bouchard then.

I don't agree with these absurd numbers of 12-13m for Bouchard, that's absolute lunacy to me based on his track record, but he's more than likely to land in that 10m range and I don't see much of a choice for the Oilers but to lock him up at those numbers.

The likely reality is that this season and next will be their real window to win a Cup. After that, even in a rising cap world, the cap crunch will be intense and the core will be aging by that time so having a guy like Bouchard who will be right in his prime will at least help to keep them in contention because I don't see 30+ year old McDavid and Draisaitl being able to carry the entire weight of the franchise.

the cap is going up 10 million for the next 2 seasons McDavid is getting a 2.5 million raise Drai 3,5 tops, and Bouchard 6 million we have contacts coming off it will be tight but they will pull it off . If they win the cup finding players at A million will not be hard for players looking to win a cup
Drai is almost certainly getting a bigger than 3.5m raise unless he's feeling the need to be extra charitable to the Oilers. He'll likely get in the 14m range and McDavid 15m at the very minimum.

He would be coming here for a cup run and not money.. so no more than 2M per

Hopefully he learns from Nurse and understands that you make big money in Edmonton then you can't afford to take games off or this media and fanbase will chew you up. See Nurse..
Kane and Nuge could've made a couple million more per season but played it smart.
Us fans are still bitch about these 2, imagine if both were making 7M+ per

I think if the Oilers win the cup this season then Draisaitl will chase big money and sunnier destination ..
If we don't win there is a bigger chance he would extend with us to go for a few cup runs.
Depends upon what out there I would let Drai walk as UFA if he wants 14M+

Apparently fell out of favor and got healthy scratched a few times this year, if I’m not mistaken?

He was in and out of the lineup, but those New England hockey players are fiercely loyal... and there are plenty of teams to consider up and down the east coast before going west.... that's even if he is concerned with his ice time in Boston.

If Drai wants to see what McDavid wants to do, what about seeing if Drai would sign for 1 year? Make his deal line up with McDavid's and they can see what the other is doing
