Personally this is how I salvage the offseason:

-do the rumored Kassian for Jarry trade
-Hakanpaa for 1 year 2-3 million instead of Barrie
-McCabe for 1/2 years at 2-3 million
-Tatar for a 1 year 4 million boosting services deal kinda like what we did with Barrie
-Granlund (can play both top 6 RW and 3C depending on how guys like Poolparty/Yamo/Holloway etc develop) for 3/4 years at 3-4 million
-Wennberg (has mostly played 3C in his career but has the type of game that could easily convert to 3LW) for 3 years 3 million
-Hinostroza for 1 year 1-2 million
-re sign Yamo (I suspect will be ~2 mil) Kahun and 4K or whatever replacement level players for 1 million or whatever, they're not bad for low cost

Tatar-McDavid-Granlund
RNH-Drai-Yamo
Archibald-Wennberg-Puljujarvi
Kahun-McLeod-Hinostroza
Khaira-Benson

Nurse-Bear
Keith-Bouchard
McCabe-Hakanpaa
Koekkoek

Jarry
Smith

If Holloway or Broberg show enough to kick someone out the lineup, then add them in. I also have a feeling that Chicago might not qualify Zadorov in order to make room for Hamilton/Jones etc considering they didn't protect him in the expansion draft, in which case we need to jump on him ASAP for a 4 year deal instead of going short term deal on McCabe. This should overall put us at somewhere around 80 million or so once the Koskinen and Neal buyouts are factored in. Although there's not a lot of high end power being added to the lineup this does gives us a lot of lineup flexibility+depth while more importantly not committing long-term to a lot of players.

2022 is when to go all in. We'll have enough cap flexibility to give guys like Poolparty/Nurse their deserved raises and potentially splash on a big UFA. Forwards potentially available: Forsberg, Hertl, Zibanejad, Burakovsky, Rackell. Defensemen potentially available: Pulock, Parayko, Lindholm. Obviously some of these guys will get locked up but some of these guys will shake loose for sure. Personally my dream scenario is to land one of the two big Western Canadian two-way top pairing RHDs.

You can not be fine with it, and still think about it logically.

You wanted every scout fired as soon as we got a new GM with no understanding of contracts or anyways.

That's like screaming the sky over nothing.
I wanted them fired because they’re shit at their jobs. When you’re bad at your job you tend to lose it.

Right so you saw the guy started insulting me from his first and after taking it for about a half dozen messages I finally used the term homer and now im just being a dick back cause apparently this is just a hostile forum, cool.

Actually my whole point of starting this was to call out that people are speculating a dozen reasons for Lars leaving but the Simp patrol only sounds the alarm and three people call you an idiot if you even dare say it may have been management.

You’re the guy who said Larsson left because of hurt feelings of an unrelated trade and can’t face the heat so you decide to call everyone who calls out out for this utter shit Holland Simps or something edgy.

Can you elaborate? Would playing with McCloud/whoever our 4th line C is kickstart Puljujarvi’s production more than playing with McDavid somehow? I don’t get it.

or do you mean he would stay with McDavid but not play the puck retrieval/hound role that he did last year?

It's pretty obvious JP was tasked to forecheck hard. With Hyman on his line doing that, he could change his focus abit

Me disagreeing with you is not an insult…

but yet you continue to call everyone who doesn’t agree with you a simp. :thumbd:

So starting from the end of last season.

Buffalo signed Hall and he played awful, the team sucked and was a huge disappointment- FAIL

Boston gave up assets for Hall and didn’t make it any further than they would have without him and didn’t make it as far as they did the previous year - FAIL

The Oilers didn’t sign Hall, didn’t trade for him at the deadline and were a much improved team in the regular season and made the playoffs which they failed to do the previous season. - PROGRESS

But keep on trying to insist this outburst by you today has nothing to do with how massively you have been personally invested in the idea of Hall coming back to Edmonton. Riiiight.
Hall couldn't help Buffalo out of a tire fire that's been going on for what 10 years now? Boston added secondary scoring that they've needed for awhile. You call them fails, on who's part? Team success is not individual success as stated many times before.

Oilers made strides last year, the Holland moves that I praised and will continue to mark as good things helped in that regard with the signing of Barrie and resigning of Pulju.

None of this is relevant to my judging of Holland this off-season, Hall and Larsson are relevant and they going on the my personal talley. I will await to see what else he does.

I’m not the one resorting to childish name calling. You just can’t handle anyone disagreeing with you.

Holland’s made tons of mistakes as GM in his term. A player being a UFA and choosing to sign elsewhere doesn’t register as one to me. Sorry that you’re so emotionally damaged by me having that opinion that you need to call me a homer, fanboy, simp and other insults.

I only started the insults after dozens of yours and trying to ask you to stop a couple times.

Calling you a simple not because you disagree. But because 1, you were a jerk and 2, you only seem to call out people that call out management.

For me in particular, sure it's a false equivalency - I'm hideous and I smell worse than I look (call me, Margot!). So let's change our protagonist to someone more realistic in this scenario - say... Ryan Gosling (he's popular with the kids these days, right?). All else being equal, would Ryan have "failed" if Ms. Robbie chose not to accept his advances?
The false equivalency is comparing dating a girl to GMing of a hockey team. Funny jokes though, but completely irrelevant.

Hopefully not too much. He’s a very effective forechecker. Hopefully if Hyman signs he can help JP become even better at it.

Challenging your take on the Hall situation is not being a Holland apologist. I am waayyyyyy over on the side of a non-Holland fan. But I also recognize that it takes two to tango in negotiations at the best of times, and in UFA negotiations one side - with rare exceptions - holds ALL the power...
It does take two to tango. You are right. Still, that does not mean that Holland cannot and should not be judged for an inability to bring in or retain players we need. Negotiations and deals are made all the time in business, and in building a team. I am not willing to look past failed attempts like this in my judgement of Holland, you are and that's fine.
