Don't blame him, kept hearing that we want to wait until his injury clears up/we see what we have in Puljujarvi before signing him....if Calgary offers him a contract right now of course he's going to sign. Blame Chia.

Honestly, I'm not too concerned. Hopefully a forward who can actually help the PK hits the waiver wire today. PAP, Pulkinen, Versteeg are not the perfect fits everyone thinks they'd be in a bottom 6 role.

Probably decided he wants a top 6 spot, and he wasn't getting that in Edmonton with Draisaitl on the wing and the potential of Puljujarvi settling into that role later in the year. Not much competition to beat out on the wings in Calgary.
Not that this really means much, but Versteeg in his interviews has always come off (to me) like he thinks he's better than he is, so its not surprising he thinks he deserves a top 6 spot.
