Not even close to being the same player, except they both play physical.I'd rather stay far clear of Bennett.
Best example since Lucic of a player who will be paid far, far more than his production will justify.

That's not fair imo. People are allowed to be fans of Skinner. Even though I harp on the need for a goalie, I am even a fan of Skinner. When he is on his game he is great. I just can't stand the slumps. At 26, that's old for a forward but still young for a goalie. Really, at any moment he might put it together. What's bad about Skinner isn't that he has bad games. It's that he has too many of them. I believe he will continue to improve and that his best hockey is ahead of him. Except, our cup window is open right now and it's unsure for how long considering the ages of players like Ekholm, Kane, Hyman, and NugeImagine being so far up Skinners behind, that you hope they stick with a guy who will fail them eventually.
Some fan that guy is. Must be a troll
Not the same player type, having both would be awesome! We have a better version already in Kane tho.....
Your right Kane does what Bennet does plus scores. Not the same player type, having both would be awesome!
How much would you say he is "on his game? That's not fair imo. People are allowed to be fans of Skinner. Even though I harp on the need for a goalie, I am even a fan of Skinner. You say big game, I see a guy who thrives when the rules stop applying as much. Like he does uptick in the playoffs, but not that dramatically. What I find intriguing about Bennett
NHL 82 game regular season avg- 19g 39pts
NHL 82g playoff avg- 24g and 55pts
He is a big game player that can turn the tides physically. Would love to have him on this team.
Somewhat related, idk why fans delude themselves into thinking Arvidsson is going to be better in the playoffs, he is the opposite of Bennett in that his production drops off significantly when the games get tougher.
It's like a 40% increase in production, over 84 games. That's pretty nuts. You say big game, I see a guy who thrives when the rules stop applying as much. Like he does uptick in the playoffs, but not that dramatically.
I mean you're a bit of a dip. He's not a player who's going to be worth the $6+M someone is going to pay him. That's pretty obvious. Again, he's a guy that thrives when there aren't rules. That or he doesn't try until everyone is tired and hurt? Either way, not a fit for this team. It's like a 40% increase in production, over 84 games. That's pretty nuts.
And who cares why it is? Most players production drops off, his dramatically increases.
You just have some of the worst takes.

How would you have the D pairs? Do you have him as a scratch?I'd like to add Oli Matta at the TDL
How would you have the D pairs? Do you have him as a scratch?
I mean that much seemed obvious, it's pretty simple and straight forward. And Stetcher as the #8.Kling as the 7th
Yep, people are really underrating Bennett. The biggest issue with him is durability but on the ice you're getting a guy that's roughly a 25 goal, 50-55 point guy with tons of physicality and strong two way play that is a terror in the playoffs most importantly, guys like this and Tom Wilson are a rare breed that are very valuable to team success. The Oilers can't fit him in long term but man would I love to have him on our team. He's well on his way to a career year this season and he brings more to the table than all of those guys. What would be the max that you'd pay him? With the cap going up I'd consider $6 million. He's easily $2 million better than Arvidsson and Arvi signed before the cap started to shoot upwards.
I remember these same exact arguments against Hyman and it's a silly one. This is a guy that brings a lot more than just points and you need to look at his numbers pro-rated, like Hyman in Toronto, to get a true indicator of how good he is and, like Hyman, he's a bit of a late bloomer that is improving every year. The guy has never hit 50 pts in his career yet hes a bonafide 2nd liner?
Going to disagree here.I remember these same exact arguments for Hyman and it's a silly one. This is a guy that brings a lot more than just points and you need to look at his numbers pro-rated, like Hyman in Toronto, to get a true indicator of how good he is and, like Hyman, he's a bit of a late bloomer that is improving every year.
Also, look at his playoff numbers even going back to his Calgary days. The guy brings it on the biggest stage, give me that over a soft skilled player who puts up big regular season numbers then shrinks like a violet in the playoffs.
I'm talking about the arguments against signing Hyman when he first landed here so I'm talking about his Toronto career. Hyman had some better paces but he was also playing with an elite offensive center in Toronto.Going to disagree here.
I think the "picked just after Leon" soft spot is going on here.
Hyman is 32 yrs old, he's been an NHL regular for 9 years, as scored 20+ goals 5 of those 9 years (I included this year because he has 19), missed with only 15 in in his last year in Toronto, but in 43 games. So he's been consistently that player since he became a regular in the NHL and clearly had another level once put with elite players.
Bennett is 28, he's been an NHL regular for 11 years, and has scored over 20 goals 3 times in those years (I'm including this year because it's fair and he's at 18), he's had some injury shorted years in there, but there's little to suggest he's progressed like Hyman nor that he's at the level of Hyman.
He's a sand paper, cheap player, with speed, but he seems to clearly be a middle to bottom-6 forward who can occasionally chip in offensively at slightly higher rate than most bottom-6ers.
Sure, but those arguments against Hyman were as dumb them as they are now. I guess, I don't see Bennett bringing enough to be worth the massive cost and I think someone is going to give him way too money money and term as a UFA.I'm talking about the arguments against signing Hyman when he first landed here so I'm talking about his Toronto career.
I remember all the posts that Hyman is a glorified 3rd liner, oft injured, only a 40 point player. It's like deja vu.
In any event, Bennett is likely re-signing with Florida so it's all moot but he'd be a hell of an addition if the Oilers could swing it. Likely a contract that won't age well but who cares at this point, it's all about the next 3-4 years or so.
It would be more concerning if his good games and bad games were random. Instead it is mostly in streaks and slumps. That also is bad (and let me be clear and remind you that imo our #1 need is a goalie), but it is hopeful. There are chunks of the season where he is a .920 goalie and others where he is a .870 goalie. At 2.6 million for another season I'd keep him around as a 1b in case he can be the .920 goalie for longerIf this isn't the definition of what makes a bad goaltender, I don't know what is.
I would describe a good goaltender as one that doesn't have too many bad games.
I've been 'OK' with Skinner these past few years but my tolerance has been wearing thin.
We're a top-5 team in the league, expecting to win the cup. Ask yourself what you think the expectation should be of a goaltender of a top-5 team. What's fair? Top-10 in any metric you take the most seriously for the position? Top-15?
Decide your answer and check if he's meeting your expectations. He's not meeting mine.

Well they are talking that Klingberg has earned a spot so I'm not sure how obvious that isI mean that much seemed obvious, it's pretty simple and straight forward. And Stetcher as the #8.
