He actually gained at least an inch in height from the combine and he was essentially a skinny kid at that point in time.As I said the combine results are going to be accurate. From there if an 5'8" 18 year old puts on close top 30 lbs without gaining height that is a really incredible thing. I mean some kids have late growth spurts but 30 lbs or even 20 LBS on someone that size would be a massive change in the body structure. But as I said, I have no conclusive evidence that the NHL.com number is wrong though weight data has never been a strength of that site.
So its not unusual that he has since put on say 25 lbs.
That IMO is not at all unreasonable especially when you consider that he was very likely told that he needed to prioritize adding muscle if he wanted to play in the NHL.
I think its in a way comparable to my own situation as a teenager. I was a skinny (140 lb) 5'9" 17 year old kid.
Over the next 5 years I put on 45lbs of muscle and grew 3 inches.
I actually grew another 2 inches (and put on an additional 20 lbs) in my early 20's as well so maybe Yamamoto is 0.5 to 1 inch taller a little heavier than the NHL states.
If your claim is that their data is off then it isnt inconceivable that its off in the other direction with his height. Maybe he is
So in any event for Yamamoto to grow 1 to 1.5 inches and put on 25 lbs (or more) of muscle (on a skinny frame) in 4-5 years is well within the realm of possibility.
