Looking at our mess of a D, can anyone believe there's a Sharks defenseman with not just an even rating but a PLUS on a team that hasn't won a game yet and been -21 overall?

We should really be doing all we can to pick up Mario Ferraro before one of our usual pains in the ass like Colorado, Vegas or now Florida make the smart Moneypuck style move that wins Cups. Ferraro's got two years left at $3.25M, that's well below the cap we will have accrued at the deadline- even room to add a scoring W for the top nine or a strong veteran 4C on top.

Ferraro could be a great partner for Bouch as he does his thing. That would let us staple Ekholm, our own Mr. Fix It, to Nurse's side and maybe just maybe salvage some of that contract:

Ferraro-Bouchard
Nurse-Ekholm
Kulak-Emberson

With the way Grier tossed us Emberson in a cap dump deal, here's hoping his soft spot for the Oil runs a mile wide and he's willing to help us out here too.

I think the "mess of D" is a bit overstated after a poor start. There are definitely "eye test shows bad" moments and probably even some poor analytics here or there to go with them, but they're for 4th for shots against allowed, which isn't a sure thing on its own but is a promising stat. After some rough goaltending outings to start, 'bad luck' and poor support from disinterested forwards, might be best to see how things shake out a bit more before paying a premium early in the season when even expected lotto teams are a bit reluctant to sell.

Again askaro was there for the taking and managements inability to assess talent has us putting all their balls in the Skinner/rodrigue basket. Askaro rocking a .954 sv percentage would probably be in the NHL if he was on the oilers

Delia is rocking a 1.61 .940. Should just run with Delia/Pickard

I would be more confident just bringing guy up from the AHl than SKinner

You just watch him and he is soooo slow at tracking pucks, his movement, etc,

He moves like he is wearing a 100 pound weight under his jersey

Askarov got sent to the AHL by a garbage team.

Plus why the hell does that matter when our goalie coach is DUSTIN f***ING SCHWARTZ

Fans saying call up Cagguila LOL this place is going to the dogs
I know Staples suggested it because Cagguilla is a PPG player so far. Man our prospect pool is brutal if we are counting on someone we know is mediocre. Why not take a gamble on Philp?

The media are idiots and will call for them to bring up a nothing player vet, and somehow I think that the management / coaching won't be much smarter than these media

There was a mention last year during the playoffs that Skinner went out and got his own coach to work on things. He was better after that.

Any word if he is back to relying on Schwartz?

I'm pretty sure Philp is getting called up tomorrow. Stauffer pretty much confirmed it. I do wonder if we call up Matthew Savoie. He's doing better than Philp right now. Philp has 3 points in 6 games while Savoie has 4 points in 6 games

Probably depends on the McDavid injury and if they feel they can get Savoie a spot in the top 6. it would be negligent to call him up to play on the 4th line.

Honestly, I think they wait to call up Savoie when the team has a better footing. Not exactly a good situation for him to get more NHL reps in with the team playing like junk

McDavid and Ryan out. Philp and Savoie in

Send Dermott down to keep the cap down

Idk. Maybe we want to call up Savoie for the team's sake. Even a rough NHL stint can be very informative on a player's development. Imo part of why Drai had such a great development is because he had a long and rough ride in his first year

I'd like to see it, just not sure if they have the cajones to do that. And as good as Knob has been, he still seems prone to the "just play vets" mantra of old school coaches, even when guys like Ryan obviously need to sit

f*** the cap space accrual

Without the cap space accrual we can’t get a defender
