For alcohol? Do you have a link?
Read it on Red Wings forum, then when I read it was surprised I missed out on this discussion over here, so I assumed it was old news. I'll try to look it up though.

I can't seem to find the exact quote I read but I found this from around here:

"I hate to say it but Campbell was almost definitely drinking when he was here.

You don't develop a substance abuse problem so bad you end up in rehab within a year.

For his sake, I hope he gets his life back on track. Not worth throwing it all away even over an NHL job, if something is stressing you out that much, let it go.

"He was the only player at team dinners who would get blasted (This is from somebody there first hand at the dinners). He obviously had a lot of stress on him after his debut started rocky and went downhill."

Maybe I assumed the drinking part, I don't think the Players Assistance Program would ever release details like that so it will only be rumours. But I always thought he was slurred in speech and talked like an alcoholic.

If we move on from both Skinner and Skinner we free up 5.6 million.

Although Stan Bowman saying the goaltending has been better lately pretty much indicates there will be no changes on that front.

His drinking stories is from somebody in Edmonton who worked at team dinners they would have at certain players houses. My circle used the same person for some house parties. They said he would just get wasted. Everybody else was not having much.

 Skinner has posted sub .900 save percentages in 8/14 starts. He’s either being willfully blind to it or that’s code for “No one is trading a goalie 1/4 of the way through the season”.

This team will likely start playing better as they will be forced to bring some more intensity to their game (although I dont know if the goaltending will rebound at this point).

Even if they pull up from this nose dive, might be just better trading RNH, Henrique, Skinnerx2, Brown, etc for the best assets you can at the TDL and retool in the offseason. Theres so few guys on this roster that actually move the needle.

Cue the RNH fanboys that he's untouchable and should be a lifelong Oiler lol

The Athletic is reporting it so take it for what it’s worth.
Yeah not a fan of getting Gibson or Blackwell, what we'd need to give up for Gibson for the Ducks to eat cap would be better spent on a permanent solution, not a stopgap.

The roster has some glaring and obvious deficiencies, I'd blow it up in January, big pieces need to move to get us back to a path to cup contention. Bandaid solutions would just gloss over core problems that would continue to undo things. And if Connor and Leon go on a run we can still make the playoffs.

But first Oilers coaching, players and management would need to admit there's a problem, and not have "outscoring" sweep everything else under the rug.

If he comes cheap. Tired of this dude riding a reputation from 10 years ago like he’s still an elite goaltender cause he plays for a shit tier team.

Jake Allen played for the rebuilding Habs. Put up Gibson-tier numbers. Was traded to NJ at 50% retained for a conditional 3rd/2nd. Allen’s also a 3.8M cap hit vs. Gibsons 6.4M, so Gibson would be worse value.

Does anyone know if Travis Sanheim plays the right side at all? I was looking at rebuilding teams and he'd likely be a good player to add here for our top 4.
I have him as a high "under the radar" target. Stauffer mentioned Philly as a target yesterday

Gibson was overworked in ANA

Thought he was older than 31

2.67GAA 0.906 but only 3 games played b/c Dostal has been red hot

When you look at his numbers the past 5 years, his numbers are 'respectable' when you consider the team hes on...especially when compared with Skinners.

Seravalli said Anaheim would be willing to retain salary on him as well
I mean even at 50%, 3.2m is tough for cap strapped Oil. Unless Gibson miraculously fixes our 2nd pairing

Nurse is coming back tomorrow and EDM will find a dman some time (even thought the D has been good over 90% of the time besides shit shows like last night)

I personally think Gibson would need retention obviously, but he has been on a garbage team and is 31, not 38. Think people underestimate what a goalie who is actually good can do on a new team with a new mindset

Dostal playing so well in front of that Ducks team means we shouldn’t just assume Gibson sucks cause of his team. Rookie no name Dostal has proven you can play in front of that team and get results.

I don’t know if we can make that work. Unless Skinner goes the other way.
