They uploaded all their stats a few years ago to the best they could

LOL. MM wont have the same impact as Ekholm--Ekholm can play in his own zone. We already have Bouchard doing the same role
I don't think he meant like Ekholm's play lol. I meant a player who wasn't available start of the year but is available now

How can Oilers management look at this team, all over the roster, and think everything is all right? It's over 20 games. It's American Thanksgiving next week. This team is not a playoff team. How can you just stand pat?

From how Stauffer is talking, it sounds like he really is talking about Mike Matheson. He started talking about this AFTER we played Montreal and Matheson wasn’r really considered available before.

He’s talking about a player who would become available like Ekholm and have his impact
Habs fans don’t seem to like Matheson. Maybe they cut bait.

I don't see how you get Matheson for less than a 1st+, I dunno do the Oilers really want to spend that much for this player? Other thing is a lot of his points come on the PP, which obviously isn't going to work here.

Really depends on what they think they need to pair with Nurse. If it's a smooth skating, puck moving D, he's a great target. If it's a more well rounded D-man with decent defensive chops, you definitely want someone else.

I like the second choice more, personally, BUT Nurse is an odd defender and it's kinda hard to say which would click better with him tbh.

Montreal wants a 1st for everything.

Matheson is legitimately worth a 1st+ though, he has fairly high offensive numbers and is under contract. I mean are the Oilers willing to give up like a 1st + Savoie for this guy? I doubt a 2nd cuts it, even 2 2nds.

Whatever “Top 4” defenceman we get is probably gonna be costing a 1st plus. Especially if they have term.

It’ll suck if we do that and find out we still need a righty next year though.

If you are gonna go all in and get that Ceci upgrade we’ve been looking for for 2 years, you better get the right guy (righty).

Oof, that's a high price for a not sure thing. Gotta be other options (I hope.)

I agree we should for sure get a top 4 Dman if we can, but we could get the next Chris pronger and still be meh without a goaltending upgrade

Sure get a goalie. Just make sure it’s cheap. Might need to cycle through a couple before finding the one that will be good for a hot stretch. Not much out there that will be realistically available is gonna be “guaranteed” when it comes to goalies.

That's the only way we can go honestly. Throw shit against the wall and see what sticks

Out of all the available options last year that were having good years, pretty much every single one has shat the bed this year. Nedeljkovic, Kahkonnen, Lindgren, Ingram (who everyone thought had popped last year). Blackwood started off the year hot last year then faded, with Kahkonnen finishing stronger in San Jose. Even the most sure-fire signings have backfired like Ullmark.

Won’t be easy finding this goalie.

Does anyone know if Travis Sanheim plays the right side at all? I was looking at rebuilding teams and he'd likely be a good player to add here for our top 4.

Since he doesn't have to play McDavid and Draisaitl in the playoffs (who know all his weaknesses from practice), Cam Talbot wouldn't be a bad go-to. He's had better than .910 save percentage in 5 out of the last 6 years on multiple different teams ... which is about as good as you're going to get for a goalie that's not like 6+ million dollar cap.

Playing for Detroit who took a flyer on that alchohic Campbell. Singed for 2 years and playing well so far for them. Don’t know if he’s available. But the cap
Hit is nice, nice for Detroit too.

Watching Flyers games last year I thought he only played Left Side. Also Torts treats him like a Stud #1 D-man and he is pretty good. I don't think they'd move him. If he was a righty and was available, I'd sell the farm for him though. He would be the Ekholm like addition.

From DailyFaceoff: "Sanheim has proven the ability to play both sides – a left shot who has primarily played on the right since the beginning of 2023-24".

The biggest issue with Sanheim would be the cap hit- $6.25 million until 2031. I doubt Philly or anyone else for that matter would retain for that many years. We'd be taking on the full cap hit, which means we'd need to move some serious salary out in the short and long term to make anything happen.
