I wonder if SJ would bite on something like this?

To SJ: Jeff Skinner, Derek Ryan, Calvin Pickard and our 2026 2nd Round Pick $4.9 million out
To Edm: Mackenzie Blackwood and Klim Kostin $4.35 million in

Recalling Noah Philp would mean that we'd be adding $225K in cap after the trade and his recall.

RNH-McDavid-Hyman
Podkolzin-Draisaitl-Arvidsson
Janmark-Henrique-Brown
Kostin-Philp-Perry

Ekholm-Bouchard
Nurse-Stetcher
Kulak-Emberson

Blackwood
Skinner

If it was feasible to the Sharks, I would do this.

MacKenzie Blackwood is a terrible goaltender man. What are people smoking? Pickard straight up is better. Terrible trade proposal. Honestly do people think Blackwood is capable of winning a cup here ? Give your heads a shake. Rather the Oilers make a run at Varlamov or something along those lines.
The guy that just shut out the Devils isn't exactly terrible. You can like other guys including Skinner better, but the guy with .910 on the Sharks isn't likely the worst choice in the world.

Voted based on need and probability to acquire under our cap situation so went with 2RD as out most critical but also fillable need.

Kulak Emberson look like a solid 3rd pairing, get a solid 2RD and a lot of the goaltending gets better as the chances should be fewer. Kane coming back solves the LW issue and I believe we will pickup a physical bottom 6 winger and Philp should be a regular come the TDL.

There are no starters available, Nashville not trading Saros after just signing him to 8 years and we can’t fit him in under the cap anyway.

I don’t see a world where we don’t ride and die with Skinner as the go to guy but even in playoffs he will need to be spelled off for a few games at a time as his game degrades with overplaying.

If he can solve his consistency issues and we improve the D and defensive play we should be ok.

Looks like the Blues are in free fall mode without Broberg. Considering they f***ed us, maybe we can squeeze a deal for Parayko if they go into a rebuild.

Fair, best to only take players teams will move and only at the price they say. Seems simplest. Well said.
No, better to have a wish list of players that would never be traded instead of trying to consider guys that might actually be available.

Although we agree a goalie is on the wish list.

Dude plays with such reckless abandon out there and is small to boot. It’s really no surprise he can’t get a full season in. Hopefully we have him when it matters in the playoffs.

The chances being fewer? Are you sure?

The Oilers allow the 3rd least amount of shots and high danger zone chances in the league. The defense isn't perfect but they're doing a pretty good job.

The problem is horrid goaltending. Period.
The best example of this, the Oilers allow the FEWEST High Danger Chances on the PK in the ENTIRE LEAGUE, but are last in PK % lol.

Blackwood is on a bad team (Min 9 games played) 28 goalies on this list

SJ - Sharks allowed 174 hdc, only Pitts is worse. Sharks are also 5th in hd save %, EDM 22nd

EDM is top 10 with 116 HDCA. #1 is Vancouver at 100 allowed

Goals saved above expected - Blackwood 12th / Skinner 27th

Goals Saved Above expected per 60 - Blackwood 11th / Skinner 28th

Save % Above Expected - Blackwood 12th / Skinner 27th

GAA Better Than Expected - Blackwood 12th / Skinner 28th

YUP, Blackwood is no good lol.
