I agree 100% with this assessment. A guy like Foegele is basically a mid level producer in the $2.25-3.25M range but he may be too expensive to keep and might require an asset to move even though he would be a better player than many of the teams with cap space have in his role. If the cap was at $88-90M next year you only move Foegele if you have a clear upgrade for him and you probably get an asset back.

It's getting a bit ridiculous with a few teams cornering the market on draft picks. Where will the 37 guys that Arizona drafts over the next three years even play?

Frankly, once the cap rises teams should start offer sheeting the teams that are hoarding cap space now. Make them pay all of these young picks top dollar.

We also shouldn't be desperate to move Yamamoto, but we are for no other reason than the cap has squeezed out middle of the lineup players that make over $2M.

Didnt even think about the offersheet angle that direction from teams like ARZ that are stingy.

More in the flat cap world there was tremendous opportunity to offersheet RFAs on contending teams to blow up their cap structure or land a great piece. Example I was lobbying for McAvoy.

They found the right NA city. Not many cities have as much green space as Edmonton and you can walk and see a Moose, deer, beavers, etc and just fully enveloped green spaces. One of the really nice things is we've protected our river valley and ravine spaces more than most Urban areas have done.

This is OT but Drai is urban based. He loves Cologne, loves the city, history that type of thing. Edmonton doesn't really do anything for him. But sounds like Ekholm and his family will really love it here.

look at this place. Not too high priced for a pro hockey player and your back yard is essentially river valley. Much better locations exist, but not many of those are currently up for sale.

Check out this listing

Watch as the deadline comes to an end, all insiders saying Oilers are done, only for Ken Holland to announce he traded Yamamoto, Kulak and a 2nd in 2026 to Florida for Bennett and Gudas (50% retained on Gudas, 15% on Bennett)

Summit Point near Katz is a common area for the players these days

Beautiful properties but holy crap the taxes. Talking 30 000 a year

You may be right. I just think there are holes that could be filled with subtle pick ups.

There aren’t that many holes. We’re actually headed in to the playoffs in a very good situation. Probably one of the best we’ve had since Holland took over.
