Ekholm is way better than Klef ever wasYeah, he's much closer to what Klef was for us than Barrie.

I'm not sure why Yamo isn't traded yet. Lavoie can't be worse than Yamo.Something that Lowetide brought up.
If we're done, the Devin Shore yoyo at $850k doesn't afford room to bring Lavoie ($870k) up for a cup of coffee. His play has put him in the cup of coffee conversation, and he's waiver eligible so it'd be useful to have an idea before training camp in September. As it stands, looks like it will take an injury situation for Lavoie to potentially get a look.
This is always how it has been, like forever. Flames fans worry and think about the Oilers a LOT for some reason, and Oilers fans hardly ever think about the Flames. I personally don't think about them anymore than I do any other team in the Pacific. I think its a result of them historically being on the wrong side of the ledger and therefore an inferiority complex being built up over the years. That is just a theory though. Honestly, who cares though, lol.

So of that list.I dont get how this is hard to understand.
For example here is a list of players that with retention of up to 50% would be large upgrades on Shore and we could still run a 22 man roster. Mostly just highlighted the ones I like best or would be the biggest upgrades.

Uhhh that’s debatable. Lavoie could be completely over his head in the NHL for all we know.I'm not sure why Yamo isn't traded yet. Lavoie can't be worse than Yamo.
Not a simple deal to make, but it's why I would interested in JVR (get his brother too)
Yes for sure I am more coming at it from the point that you could hypothetically pay the 2nd + prospect to land an RFA as well should you want to go that route in Trenin + Tippett. So of that list.
7/23 are RFAs, which teams usually like to keep their RFAs
1/16 was just resigned (Blais)
2/15 is on LTIR (Evans)
1/14 guy is worse than Shore (Bjork
8/12 are on playoff teams or teams fighting for a spot.
That leaves 4.
Trenin, Robinson, Sheary and Grant.
So of that 23 man list there is maybe 4 guys available. Grant is not that much of an upgrade on Shore honestly. Robinson is kind of nothing. I believe Nashville is trying to resign Trenin.
So really its Sheary. People being really pissed over us not trading for Sheary.
Which I can get.
Lots of comments around here about Foegele these days puzzle me a bit.Wouldn't mind JVR here. Yamamoto is a non-factor and costs a lot. He has to be moved. Foegele at least has tools to make him a useful playoff guy if he finds his game. Yamo is utterly useless and his cap space entirely wasted.
Move him + picks for something. You just have to.
Yamamoto for JVR with 50% retention doesn't even fit in the cap. Would need to also send down one of Shore or Broberg which leaves us with a 21 man roster...and with Kane currently injured, gives us exactly enough to ice a roster.Wouldn't mind JVR here. That slap pass he made on the disallowed goal last game was amazing. Reminded me of Keith.Ekholm also helps the forwards too. He gives them confidence so they don't have to hang back
This is such a fairweather city. Until the playoffs start you'd never even know they had an NHL team.Yup. Being from Calgary I listen to the Fan 960 a lot. There is a weird inferiority complex there, and among a lot of Flames fans in the city.
I would even go a 2nd with Yamo. Flip a 4th to Buffalo for the extra 50%, the the team has a useful veteran winger with size.Washington is holding onto TVR.
Wonder if Yamo + 3rd + 5th (third team retention) would do it?
A lot of it is context. With RFAs its much harder to do cause they retain the rights and the ones up there I don't really see moving.Yes for sure I am more coming at it from the point that you could hypothetically pay the 2nd + prospect to land an RFA as well should you want to go that route in Trenin + Tippett.
I completely agree there is very few true options out there but saying we couldnt do anything is false as shore can just be buried and it doesnt matter.
Ekholm is sort of like a Larsson-Klefbom hybrid. Precisely what this team needs. Litteraly the only downside to Ekholm is he's almost 33. Hopefully he has a fair amount of longevity in him.Ekholm is way better than Klef ever was
I like his game the last month, but this could be a sell high opportunity.Lots of comments around here about Foegele these days puzzle me a bit.
He’s legit been quite good for the last 20 games for the most part.
I’ve watched every game for the past while and I notice him making many more good plays than not. He’s skating, driving play and playing decent defence in his own end. I’m really not a fan of moving him at all. I think he’s finally coming on personally
I think Washington ran out of defensemen.I would even go a 2nd with Yamo. Flip a 4th to Buffalo for the extra 50%, the the team has a useful veteran winger with size.
Washington is hanging on to him? Seems kinda strange
They had similar impact especially if we are talking about 2016-17 Klef. He really kept Nurse grounded and playing honest not like what you see Nurse doing these days.Ekholm is way better than Klef ever was
That's the thing, Yamo is also in over his head. He got closelined by Holl and just took it.Uhhh that’s debatable. Lavoie could be completely over his head in the NHL for all we know.
Honestly, I probably do that.f*** it.
To EDM:
Saros
To NSH:
Campbell
24 1st
Bourgault
Holloway
I'm serious.
I saw the rest of the team follow his lead on that too.The biggest thing I noticed. Ek was communicating like crazy with Bouch all game. That’s exactly what he needs
