Highway robbery if that happens. Trade their weakest D for hart quality goalie. Helle + Bussi tandem behind that team. Probably would be testing the presidents trophy curse next season.
So Spector believes Bowman is going to make a bad trade because he is in a hurry to grab something shiny on the first. That the other GMs' are playing him.
Sigh.
He's probably right.
This is a very good point. Not just over the last few years but during all of McDrai era we have shied away from what many called lateral moves on goaltending possibilities. Only to see those “lateral moves” become 1a s or starters shortly after being traded. Or in the case you brought up surpass our “future goaltenders” quite quickly out of the draft. This is why I was ok with the Ingram trade last year. The second that skinner started to crack we could have capitalized and got another goalie. We always wait too long to make a trade it seems. It’s that kind of thinking that made us pass on Walstedt. In the last 8 years there have been numerous young/rookie goalies that played a key role in winning Cups. Murray, Binnington, Hill, Busse. Then you had a guy like Dobes taking Montreal to the Conference final.

Id take him back all day. Like the guySome people are gonna be grossed out by this idea, but I wouldn't be opposed to a Kailer Yamamoto reunion based on his showing last year in Utah. His puck retrievals were very solid. And his defensive game took big steps forward. Undersized, but very high motor.
It sure looks like that which is why I think any Nurse trade made this offseason will be ugly for the Oilers and why it's stupid for Bowman to rush a trade. If Nurse doesn't like it then too bad expand your trade list then or play out the season here and get traded next season wherever the best deal available is.So Spector believes Bowman is going to make a bad trade because he is in a hurry to grab something shiny on the first. He was a genius in Tampa. Not so much in Detroit.Yzerman feels the pain now.
Skinner had a terrific Rookie season. His save percentage and play went down every after. He got worse every year.Isn’t skinner an example of a young goalie that went to the cup final? Like, as a rookie he went to WCF and then he went to SCF or something like that?
It’s kinda comical… “boo skinner if it wasn’t for that bum we coulda had a young goalie that could have made it to the finals!”
Honestly a goalie with that much experience and still relatively young would be a great fit here as 1B.
Our team D was often atrocious in front of him. Total Chinese fire drill , whatever that means.
Too bad we haven’t had a 1A in like 84 years
Have you forgotten the 1A 1B master combo of Roloson and Garon?Isn’t skinner an example of a young goalie that went to the cup final? Like, as a rookie he went to WCF and then he went to SCF or something like that?

You'd have to think Kochetkov (or maybe Bussi) goes back as wellI don’t mind it, WPG gets weaker, Hellebuck out of the West and makes FLA road a little more difficult
Hope Chevy text him back.....get serious!I don’t mind it, WPG gets weaker, Hellebuck out of the West and makes FLA road a little more difficult
It's amazing how many GMs look like geniuses because their scouting staffs go on lucky streaks at the draft over a 3 - 5 year stretch that put together cup winning capable cores, usually with a bunch of home run picks in the later rounds. He was a genius in Tampa. Not so much in Detroit.
Still easier to be a genius in TB than Detroit. He was a genius in Tampa. Not so much in Detroit.

Lol- that wasnt the thinking that made us pass on Walstedt. It was our shitty goalie scout Jeff Sajelko (sp). The Oilers have also never been in a situation where the Oilers have 1 year of McDavid before they decide on moving him. The situations are completely different. The oilers literally cannot gamble on the position. They should have claimed Dipietro last year. Even Bussi was availableIt’s that kind of thinking that made us pass on Walstedt. Starting with Stamkos and Hedman doesn’t hurt as well. It's amazing how many GMs look like geniuses because their scouting staffs go on lucky streaks at the draft over a 3 - 5 year stretch that put together cup winning capable cores, usually with a bunch of home run picks in the later rounds.
Nuge isn't going anywhere unless he expressly wants to for the remander of his contract. Not a bad deal by Colorado. Nuke was great, now he sucks, cap space and picks to deal for a replacement.
Seems like something this current version of the Oilers should do with Nuge, but won’t because of reasons.
This organization seems so dang stagnated these days.
Maybe Babs will bully himNuge isn't going anywhere unless he expressly wants to for the remander of his contract.

And rightfully so, he would be in my top 10 players that bleed true orange and blueNuge isn't going anywhere unless he expressly wants to for the remander of his contract.
