Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | If Babcock is Our New Coach Will Players Want to Come Here?

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
what is Toronto's game plan here? why are they trying to stock up on draft picks? Are they rebuilding? They must really like the top players in this draft or something.
Cashing in on the found money. They spent a lot of futures to win one round. Trading Knies on top of winning the draft lottery could go a long way to rebuilding their depth. They really need to get younger on D and this is one draft where that's possible.

California, probably the Kings
The Kings seem like a bad fit after adding Panarin and already having Fiala.

I'm guessing he wants Cali, then either Vegas or one of the 2 FLA teams, and then it might be us, he likes the sun, but being in the Pacific he gets to go back home more often than with most other teams and we are a contender.

probably explains why Robertson didn't want to go to Seattle...greed

Overall though this is starting to sound like a “Vegas” situation where he only wants one destination (maybe SJ to play with Celebrini? They did trade a LW this week) but Dallas doesn’t want him there so he’s being told go anywhere else and you have our permission.

Yep. Which is unfortunate and I feel bad for Seattle.

No interest unless he comes with an extension in place. He forced his way out of Ottawa so he could play closer to home.
Maybe DeBrincat is the 7M forward Bob was talking about.

We dont need him to come with an extension if Nurse is going the other way.

Debrincat+Cossa for Nurse++

Lets put an end to this tax nonsense. Puck Levine- a CPA in Canada and now working in the USA with his own accounting firm (and Puckpedia founder) on Staufffer's show has previously shot this down. He said there isnt much difference because only 41 games are played at home. What players make their primary residence also makes a difference (go back home during the offseason). While there is some variance between non-tax states and tax states- it isnt as much as people say. He also added once you account for costs for health (canada vs US), and other costs that vary state to state- the difference gets smaller.

Weather is definitely a factor and so is lifestyle. Tax isnt a big consideration

I'm pretty sure the impending 9.9% Washington state tax on all income over $1M that is starting up in 2028 says otherwise.

The issue is even if they landed like #4 and drafted McKenna and Reid, by the time they're carrying the team Nylander and Matthews are gone or declining. And they don't really have much else. If you trade Knies you might as well trade Matthews instead.
