Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | If Babcock is Our New Coach Will Players Want to Come Here?

What's your issue with Dach? 23 years old, former 2nd round pick, good skater, hits like a truck, 4 points in 8 games for us last year from the fourth line.

And I'm just going to clear one thing up. I am in no way defending Bowman here. But on a day when teams are swapping 1st round picks for players, what do you expect the Oilers to do to match those deals? I would have loved to get a Connor McMichael to add to our depth. But in case you didn't notice, it took a top line player to get him and a 1st round pick. I would have loved to get a Kyrou type. But guess what? It would have cost us a 1st that we don't have, and Savoie or Podkolzin. We don't have the assets to make trades for the guys who are getting 1st round picks back. I wish we did. I wish our GMs haven't been idiots. But what deals could we have done today? Which of the holes on the roster were able to be filled today?
Colton Dach reminds me of Darren Helm back when he broke in to the league

I don't even want that. Give me a 'distressed asset' like Kirby Dach, a third pair LD and a decent futures return for Nurse and wait until the deadline to add your scoring depth.

Every year people want the Cup Final roster in July. I'd rather have cap space and the assets to be a deadline player in Feb/March.
How'd that work out in 24 when we traded for Walman and frederic?

If they brought Stu back after benching him in game 5 of the SCF last year, they can bring Nurse back.

Still, seeing how much of a sellers market it is, maybe the Oil can get out from his contract without any pain.
I can dream of something around Nurse + Howard for Tippett.

Drai-McDavid-Tippett
Podz-RNH-Hyman
Frederic-Dickinson-Savoie
Dach-Samanski-______

Hmmm... I really like that. Honestly, swapping Howard for anyone with size makes so much sense for the top 9. I know he's a UFA, but even a 3rd liner like Mikheyev instead of Howard has the lineup looking better and balenced.

Podz-McDavid-Drai
Savoie-RNH-Hyman (Savoie filling the Roslovic role)
Mikheyev-Dickinson-Frederic
Dach-Samanski-______
I like the bottom team better. Hyman and Pods can switch spots if needed.

This shows you how important 1 top 6 FWD is (Mikheyev)

I don’t think Mikeyev is a true top 6 FWD, more like a middle six tweener/3rd line pk guy. I agree he would be a good fit, but if the rumours of wanting 5+ are true, that is too rich for my liking.
I would say he definitely isn't a top6 player.

He's pretty much always created offense off the rush. He doesn't really play well with skill. He's the type of guy you throw on the third line to score the odd rush goal on his own every now and then.

Pretty good in hindsight. A late first for a guy that played top four minutes on a Cup finalist, who was then re-signed long-term. And that was a top four defenseman, a limited commodity.

We're talking about scoring wingers, aren't we? Look what the deadline prices were last season in a slow year. McMann, Chinakhov, Brink and Panarin all moved for less than expected from my memory.

If you miss out on Tuch, you're probably risking getting in trouble with the Arvidsson, Mangiapane, Henrique kind of short-term contracts filling that hole. And it's not necessary. As it stands we have an NHL roster minus the goalie.

Good skater, excellent on the forecheck and down ice pressure, great defensively. This is exactly what DJ Smith described yesterday as the type of game Babcock wants to deploy. Perfect for that 3rd line
lol, I'm going suggest he doesn't do that, but gets top-9 time Calgary with mixed results.
