We definitely don't have the best trade package to offer up for him, but the second variable is he has a say in where he wants to extend and where he doesn't. In listening to one interview from him he did seem quite fond of Cali and the sunshine there, which isn't looking good for us and secondarily he reportedly wants $14M and I think $12.5M is about as high as we can go. Not sure if the McDavid factor and playing for a winner is enough to counteract that.

It would require no cap coming back in the Nurse trade (which I'm assuming would take some incentive to make happen) and being super frugal cap wise with our holes or part of the return package to DAL would include Nuge, who I think they are fond of. I've done multiple armchair GMs its certainly workable and its the kind of thing VGK seems to find a way to do whenever they want.

I think Kapanen has become an afterthought, seems like its time to go for the big swings and if you miss on those and end up having to take a half way measure like trading for McCann or signing Mantha, you can circle back to Kapanen with the remaining money.
