After today's game we have 2 days to get back to Edmonton and then start a 3 game home stand. Today and tomorrow would be good times to get some trades done IMO.

That’s not how we roll though. Our management usually books a hotel conference room downtown the day of and then try to pull off a last minute trade or two

I listened to that Friedman segment on Hello Hockey.

Friedman says he's heard that Evander Kane wants to prove that he can be a big factor in the playoffs for the Edmonton Oilers. His injuries during the SC Finals are on his mind and he feels like he needs to prove he can still be a big benefactor.

I want him back so bad... but not until the playoffs

Kane would be a big asset to have in the playoffs. Let’s say worst case scenario that his offense drops off a cliff…he still brings physicality that our team sorely lacks.
I don’t really understand the narrative of Kane wanting to screw the team over. He wants to make sure that he is ready to go for game 1. That includes getting some games in near the end of the season. I’d rather have Kane on the books than Arvidsson who has been terrible this year and has a history of vanishing in the playoffs

Friedman also said Oilers have discussed goaltending and, because of Gibson's healthy issues, it seems unlikely.

He didn't say no though. If Pickards pulls a Skinner tonight, we may go for one

I didn’t like the signing for several reasons. First- I remember folks like Kevin Weekes saying Kane will get 7M in the open market and Kane penning his farewell to Edmonton- then circling back to the oilers for a lower amount just showed that GMs around the league weren’t interested in him- despite the playoff performance. Lots of apprehension out there.

Then there was the San Jose thing. Everyone knew San Jose would be penalized and Kane would be made whole again. Turns out the ruling was Kane gets topped up by San Jose to his full 7M salary. Oilers could have signed Kane for 1M and San Jose would have had to pay the balance. Why not wait for the ruling? Third, why give this player a 4 year deal and a NTC knowing full well he poisons the well wherever he goes. It’s who he is. Holland went full Holland- helped out San Jose so they pay less, paid Kane and gave him everything he wanted. It was bad…

McDavid had almost the exact chance from closer in and Bob saved it in the same period
Yeah was pretty much minutes after mcdavid ce down on a decent rush and probably got off a better shot for sure and Bob just brushed it off easy peasy and didn't even need to go on his knees either lol

Gibson can't be the only option, unless they're not seriously looking

And why does one f***ing game matter? They have a season+ body of work to pull from

What an idiot org

You basically did. U said of he doesmt wanna sit out the entire regular season so we can benefit from the cap relief then he can basically get bent and piss off
That's right, I said if he's tying the team's hands by maybe-maybe not going to play, and for less than two weeks, which he could do in the AHL, then he's out so the team can use that space on a certainty.
