If Gibson is traded anywere but edmonton I'll lose my shit. Cuz im sure it will be for peanuts on the dollar to boot

Then the media spins nothing was available for the Oilers and also didn't have the capital to make the moves needed blah blah rinse amd repeat

Who’s paying his salary has nothing to do with this. It’s when it is deemed he is ready to play. Kucherov was in full practice mode 2 months before the playoffs. No one is saying defraud insurance.

If this management group makes decisions based on one game- they are dumber than I thought
Literally the person I was responding to was calling it insurance fraud. I'm saying it's not.

So basically Kane is LTIR for the season then going by Jeff Jackson's comments. That's 5.125 in cap room. What do we have left from acrued space? Could be more if Arvidsson goes out (which we should seriously consider).

Carolina has very little cap room.

Jackson is saying Kane is out till the playoffs, and Friedman is saying Kane is on the block and has submitted his trade list. Nice muddy waters for this trade deadline.

I suspect Friedman is closer to the truth though. Jackson isn't going to blurt out the Oiler's gameplan, while Friedman is probably talking to the agents.

Just before the break Skinner scored a couple key goals. He scored against Det and Chi, both those games went to OT, earning us points.. What he also did was make several game saving backchecks in consecutive games.

How was he rewarded by Knobby? He was demoted to the 3rd line for Savoie

I have no idea where this notion that any of his goals are meaningless nonsense came from?
He did. I admit.

I just want more I guess. Again - not running him out of town, just not sure those that want him top 6 will be satisfied. But... he certainly hasn't had a fair shake, agreed.

Jackson is the team president he should know more than a freaking reporter that doesn't even focus on the Oilers.

A trade list is supposed to be submitted, it's part of the contract, when the clock struck midnight AM this morning, he has to give the Oilers a 16 team trade list I believe.

Can't believe that clown Jackson is willing to even appear on a hockey podcast at this point, and pretend he knows what he's talking about. He should be handing in his resignation to Katz with his head bowed in shame and asking the fans for forgiveness for what he's done to this team.

Sounds like they weren't allowed to ask about the offer sheets or goaltending as those topics conveniently never came up.

I didn't say Kane is on the block because he submitted his trade list. Friedman has been thumping the drum that Kane is potentially on the block in parallel to the comment about the trade list.

My other point is that Jackson isn't going to openly talk about trading a player, not that Friedman knows more about the situation. Friedman's job is talking about behind the scenes trade rumors and is likely talking to other sources connected to both parties.

Oilers are situated just fine in the off season to make that trade with the guaranteed cap jump.
Filling out the remainder of the roster may prove challenging after the Bouchard extension. Particularly if your big move for Gibson doesn't end up giving you the results you anticipated.

No one is going to argue that the goaltending is a question. But it isn't the only question. There's still a very real question about the team's size, speed and overall willingness to go into battle. Cap flexibility is going to be required to address those areas.

Carolina on the other hand has a massive amount of cap opening up in the offseason. And a pretty significant ELC likely taking a big role on D next season. Re-signing Rantanen could tie up quite a bit of it, but they don't really have a lot of holes to fit on their roster. They're also doing fairly well with their farm system compared to us.

Long standing tradition going back to Sather that they only do 1 to 1s if they get to vet the questions ahead of time or tell the person topics that are off limits

Good news in the cap is going up
bad news players will be asking for more

Sure, but still very doable especially if you can get retention on Gibson.

Cap is going up 7.5M, Connor Brown's cap overage opens up 3.5M, the difference in Jack Campbell's buyout and Neal's buyout coming off the books is another 700k. Skinner's 3M off the books. That alone opens up almost 15M cap space and you're losing two guys who have essentially played 4th line/press box minutes this year so no added salary really to replace them.

Draisaitl's raise will account for 5.5 of that 15M. Bouchard at 8-9M could account for another 4-5M. That leaves you with 4.5-5.5M. Even at full price Gibson is only a +5.3M cap hit over Pickard's current contract.

Plenty of other options that can be traded including Henrique (3.5M), Arvidsson (4M), or Kane (5.1M) all on expiring deals if you're looking to find a different element of size or speed.

Kinda bizarre that Jackson is saying one thing and Friedman/Seravalli are saying something else.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Kane wants to play even if he’s not 100% ready. I think he probably wants to secure a contract after next year.

Should be an interesting week.

I like how Seravelli just

Their job is to get clicks.

There's been basically zero leaks under Bowman.

Jackson lies alot.

Yep, lol.

Connor Brown was McDavid's bud.

Campbell was Hyman's bud.

Arvidsson was Ekholm's bud.

All of these signings were major busts.
We don’t get to the finals without Browns contributions during the playoffs. I’m hoping Arvidsson can step up for us in the playoffs as well. Also Brown did a huge favor for us by signing for a million.

its clearly a joke post using puns.

Did Treena ever have credibility?
Kinda, I thought it was stauf's burner

Jokiharu is a 4
Dahlin is a 1
Byram is a 2
Samuelson is a 3
Power is a 3

And the Sabres are in last place

Haha
The funny thing about Byram, he gets results like Cam Barker used to. He has talent, but doesn't seem to drag on everyone he plays with
