I think the insiders are using "shopped" pretty loosely.

They need to do their due diligence and find out their options, but the best case scenario is still him coming back Game 1 of the playoffs.

If we’re smart we keep Pickard (an actual backup goalie only making 1 mil) and bring in a goalie in place of Skinner

Even the best goaltenders have bad games, let in bad goals, and have bad stretches. Hellebuyck got wasted by Colorado in the playoffs last year, but that doesn't negate the long stretch of elite play proceeding that meltdown, or his stellar play this year.

It's not something you can assess on a game by game basis, especially not when you're just catching a game here and there.

I have a feeling some players on bad teams are gonna look way better on a contender. Seth Jones is one, Gibson is probably another.

We’re no stranger to reclamation projects either. Not many people thought Ekholm was a top pairing dman, barely anyone wanted Kane (I know because I was one of the few in favor of it early on).

This very true. People need to look at the top 5 goalies in the leagues game by game save percentage. There’s absolute stinkers in there for anyone. Averages are what you wanna focus on not just 1-2 games in a season.

2022 playoff Kane was a beast. 2025 Kane is a giant question mark. The reality is that no one knows how he’ll play after the surgeries.

It took him a while when he initially joined the team.

I’m not a fan of Knobs no contact coaching if you’re calling me out.

We are talking about a small 25 game sample size here as opposed to much more meaningful 241 games over the previous 5 seasons
So I dont see investigating 25 games as a meaningful exercise.

The bigger question for me is...why did Gibson suck for 5 years?

I think it would be wise to move Kane, as long as you don’t have to pay to do it.

How’s he really going to look when he comes back? He’s not getting any younger and he’s missed a lot of time. He’s had some really bad luck with injuries, I honestly thought he’d be a 40+ goal scorer with us, only slowing to 30 around the age he’s at now.

It would be a miracle if he came back for the playoffs and could skate, check, shoot, do anything at an NHL level.

For me Arvidsson and Kane are on the block.

Unfortunately I don't see the team moving Arvy because we just signed him.
