I think the point here is...there is rumored to only be...Dumba, Walker and a long list of guys worse than Ceci actually available. Dumba, is NOT an improvement on Ceci. And analytically Walker is, but there is a good chance he will either be stupid expensive, or not move at all.
Like would you pay Ceci, 1st for Walker? I don't think I would.

Maybe I’m being naive but I just don’t think walker goes for that.

Tanev is clearly better and didnt get a first. Id definitely do a 2+ for Walker

I do agree about Dumba being a not want.

Still also hoping Carrier may shake lose, even with the preds being in a playoff spot

Crazy to me that you can just say this when Marek came out a few days ago saying he expects Carrier to be moved.

I don’t think Walker or Carrier have separated themselves enough or have the track record to be able to definitively say they are upgrades on Ceci. I’d say chances are good they would be especially given how Ceci has played lately but it’s a bit of a toss up.

Jensen definitely would of been but he’s showing his age a bit this year and hasn’t been the same as he was the last few years playing with Orlov. He’s got another 2 years after this one too.

Provorov is a guy they should try and pull out of Columbus, he’d be a solid addition to the top 4. He’s a lefty but has played on the right before. Not ideal but he’s better then anyone else being floated.

We don't have the cap space for Provorov. Columbus won't be retaining 50% with an extra year. But I agree with most of the things you said.

You know that doesn't mean things can't be adjusted in THIS offseason. Also, teams lose bottom of the roster most offseasons.

If the market is pushing Vinny's AAV high I think that could be solved by giving him some term that nobody else is interested in.

Say something like $1.3Mx5 would probably get him similar dollars, and would still give us flexibility to send him back down the line should his game fall off and have most or all of the deal buryable. He seems like a guy that would value term as well because that pushes out his playing career longer than it might with a shorter, but higher AAV deal.
