Players that only have one destination in mind yes. Seems the McDavid effect is working both ways. Players love to play with him but GMs don’t like helping us because of him lollots of players going for peanuts
The magic of movement clauses!!!lots of players going for peanuts
On our side or theirs?
Cheers episode when the shrink put the shock collar on Cliff
Parayko is an off season type target. St. Louis is unlikely to tie up a retention slot for him so there is some significant cap gymnastics that would have to happen never mind the mix of assets it would take. Even if it were remotely possible there is a real danger that it would take significant time and energy to negotiate such a deal and then fall through leaving the Oilers at the deadline with few other options.
Do NOT call Cliff Claven a monkey!! (joking, I recall the episode).Lol.. I always try and tell people about the famous shock treatment episode, to those poor souks who've never experienced the magic of Cheers ! Lol
One of the classics, along with the monkey delivering the mail![]()
Yeah there is really no way to make the cap work without a decent amount of retention on Parayko unless we just decide to NOT get anyone else.Parayko is an off season type target. Yes if we didn’t just see almost an exact deal last year I would agree with the OP. But being KH’s last year and him wanting to leave on top I could see it being a genuine possibility. Whether it happens is another thing but I guaranty there has been talks.Generally I'd agree, however Holland did just make that same deal including multiple years of retention last deadline with Ekholm.
Except much different term left and it was only 4%Generally I'd agree, however Holland did just make that same deal including multiple years of retention last deadline with Ekholm.
I think we owe old man David Poile something goodGenerally I'd agree, however Holland did just make that same deal including multiple years of retention last deadline with Ekholm.
Are you assuming that if the Oilers were going to trade for Parayko they would ask for a 50% retention? Because they might, but they won't get it.Except much different term left and it was only 4%
*cough cough* ahmmm, Tyson Barrie. Thank you.Except much different term left and it was only 4%
Of course not, but there would need to be at least 25% retention if we also want to add a top 6 forward too, its just extremely hard to fit without a big shakeup of the roster. Are you assuming that if the Oilers were going to trade for Parayko they would ask for a 50% retention? I don't think Parayko is a great fit right now, but it's not impossible.
Ceci and Foegel out would leave them with over 2 million to grab a Foegele replacement and another piece. Could still fit in two 6 million cap hits with 75% retention, or a couple 3m hits with 50% retention. Things are definitely possible this year with the accrued cap.Yeah there is really no way to make the cap work without a decent amount of retention on Parayko unless we just decide to NOT get anyone else.
The retention was 4% for three years and it seems that Nashville was at least looking to move on from Ekholm at the time. St. Louis might have to retain more for much longer. That said the real concern is that it is hard to imagine that Parayko is a guy they want to move on from right now. They may see this differently in the future. But it would probably take time to convince them.Generally I'd agree, however Holland did just make that same deal including multiple years of retention last deadline with Ekholm.
as a resident, it's pretty closeSt Albert Florida, just outside Jacksonville lol

I really wanted Tarasenko to get an Edmonton address but he opted instead for a Stanley Cup favorite and a beautiful locale with lots of palm trees. Go figure.Do NOT call Cliff Claven a monkey!! (joking, I recall the episode).![]()
If we send Ceci back they would need to retain around 1.5 mill on Parayko for us to not be at 0 cap space. That would mean them retaining for 6 years past this year. The cost of that alone would be astronomical. Are you assuming that if the Oilers were going to trade for Parayko they would ask for a 50% retention? Because they might, but they won't get it.

Not that he's going to get move this week, but there have been reports for at least a year that they're considering moving him. I remember specifically hearing Calgary was interest around the time he hurt his back. His name has been out there. The retention was 4% for three years and it seems that Nashville was at least looking to move on from Ekholm at the time. St. Louis might have to retain more for much longer and today. That said the real concern is that it is hard to imagine that Parayko is a guy they want to move on from right now. In the offseason, I agree, but right now, I don't think it would be as violent as you think.Of course not, but there would need to be at least 25% retention if we also want to add a top 6 forward too, its just extremely hard to fit without a big shakeup of the roster.
