Don't worry, all month left for Holland to sabotage the team by keeping one of the better defenders out in California because he wants to hang onto Puljujarvi until 5 seconds are left before the deadline.

Because we totally don't need these points between now and the deadline.

We can continue watching a shit top pairing in Nurse and Ceci playing hot potato since they can't move the f***ing puck out too.

Does he really though? We were never rumored to be in on Tarasenko or O'Reilly, and in the end, increases our chances at the bigger fish (Kane, Karlsson, Laffety, etc.). We have 2 more weeks. People need to relax. He will have something.
He will have something, I just hope it's one of the bigger fish you listed.

Did people even want O'Reilly or are we all just overreacting right now? The deadline is 2 weeks away.

O'Reilly has been a 3rd line quality player this year.
Probably more frustrating that all we hear from Oilers media and management is ‘dollar in dollar out’ , ‘hard to make trades’.. toilet seats and stuff.. GMKH makes 5 mill to make the difficult moves.. if all it take is a 4th in 25’ to take on 3.5 mill cap hit for 1 year then it should not be so hard to make moves as the Oilers brass make it out to be

Except Holland is nothing like Chia and the team improved leaps and bounds under him and had playoff sucess under holland, unlike Chia.

Everyone here is acting Holland is the worst Gm the oilers have had. He had added solid additions to this team. I contend oiler fans and worse than leaf fans when it comes annoying whining about something that hasn’t happened yet.

Holland as been a good GM for the Oilers, and despite what you read here, the Oilers are in a good position in the standings, but you’d think we are in last place reading some comments here.

Shouldn't take a genius to move Puljujarvi out for waivers, so Holloway/Desharnais don't have to be sent down to move useless ass Yamamoto in the lineup. Our PK has been dog shit since Desharnais's been out and that's a fact

Don't worry guys! We got to see JP be in a game and play not many minutes! We also got to see an exciting experience where the Oilers played with 19 skaters!!

Yeah, that's said every year.
And then the Oilers will come up with Sam Lafferty and Shane Ghostbear because muh cap space, dollar in dollar out, and must protect the useless prospects and picks that will take longer than McDrai's contract to develop! Wooooo! Ken Holland best GM ever!
Well guess it's pointless talking to you. You obviously can paint pictures without even having logical reasons to your argument. It's Friday. Drink a beer and relax.

Feel free to pm me if Ken Holland actually makes a big move, and I'll happily buy you a case of beer.
Until then, he's not doing shit.

I mean based on what we have actually seen Ken Holland say and do in nearly a half decade managing this team, what about that is hyperbole?

Kyle Dubas's able to make a damn big move for his team. Rather have a GM who's all in and giving his team a better chance to win rather than snooze and use excuses like dollar in dollar out.

Now its Karlsson potentially in the summer which is even more f***ing pointless when the pacific division is in reach for this team to overtake. But until then, I guess we're content with Ceci and Nurse as a top pair when they've been shit together.

What has he done to improve the defense?

What has he done to improve the overall depth of the roster?

What has he done aside from buying a few players on retirement contracts at 5M+?

Good teams are built through trade, FA, and draft/development. Holland has been lucky that the former regime's scouts hit on a few picks (Bouchard, Skinner, McLeod). Aside from that, his picks look dismal. There aren't many top quality prospects in the system and the ones there are play few minutes. He rarely trades, and when he does they are pathetic (two 2nds for AA anyone).

Free agency is where Holland has made his few acquisitions, but clearly he is not proactive because the team was forced to play 11/6 due to his inability to stay within the confines of the cap. Guy is a complete joke and the only reason why some around here are blind to this is because Chia was arguably worse.

During the McDavid era the Oilers have had the 2 worst GM's in the league. Even just a semi-competent guy and the Oilers would have multiple cups.

Imagine your best prospect by far is Matthew Knies and only having 4 picks in rhe first 4 rounds from 2023-2025.

I know we need to go for it and start spending capital but let's not just throw picks away for 30 games of a guy.

Imagine keeping all your first round picks at the cost of icing the best possible roster and your best selection in that time being a nearly 23 year old defender with 7 points on the year. I genuinely don’t know which is worse.

I'm all for getting frustrated on trades if they don't go through, but I have said this since being an Oilers fan 32 years ago: I will NOT jump to conclusions or make irate claims and other nonsense until I have heard the reason or other side of things. We know JP is gone. We know we are in on some of the bigger players. We know Holland has lots of balls in the air. When the trade deadline passes, then I will reserve my judgement on it. Until then, just gotta be cool like a cucumber and just enjoy the ride until then.

Definitely not the one who keeps going for it every year and hasnt made it past the first round. The leafs cupboards are bare and the Oilers are stocked.

You want to hear reason out of the mouth of a man who makes $5M a year yet can’t come up with an analogy for his hockey team that isn’t based on his shitter?

I agree, but would like to see them pay a little more for some earlier help while they're struggling instead. Could be a rough couple of weeks in the meantime.

And by the time those cupboards pan out, the contracts of both McDrai are done and they're off to different teams.

Stocked with what exactly? Not difference makers on their ELCs, that’s for sure. And minus last year, we are the Leafs lol.

Not to mention, ROR has a history of injuries. Wouldn't surprise me 3 weeks from now, he goes down in an injury and the Leafs lose out once more. The key is to not overpay.

Dubas knows he's done if the Leafs don't make some noise this playoff year, and doesn't care that he's leaving a trainwreck for the next guy. ROR has been horribad this year, hopefully that continues.
