I'm not getting the hate here.

We know that some players stall the market. Meier up front and Chychrun on the back-end are holding up any moves that teams might make until one/both of them is/are traded.

If Puljujarvi really can be moved as part of a deadline add, and that deadline add won't become apparent for another few days, why trade him now?

It just feels like people are getting impatient for any move to happen rather than waiting for the best move.

I'll trust Holland's judgement and reports that it's a buyers market probably means waiting longer will result in better outcomes.

This is just temporary.
b/c sending down someone playing as well as big Vince is horrible optics wise if it extends even a day beyond his flu. He's completely earned a roster spot here and deserves to be here if health permits. It's the exact type of player you want on the main roster to say to prospects in your pipeline as well as potential reclamation projects we acquire in the future "anyone can earn their way onto the team and make an impact". We're kicking off a guy whose fought and clawed his way into the lineup and been a positive almost every game to keep guys like Poolparty/Foegele who are doing the opposite, especially in the case of Puljujarvi who we're probably kicking off the team in 3 weeks anyway.

If Holland's solution is to just keep Desharnais in the AHL until the trade deadline by which time he'll finally get off his ass and make a move on Puljujarvi ... this doofus has lost the plot.

Do your f***ing job for once in a timely fashion, tired of every damn thing having to be stretched out a month longer than necessary (ie: Tippett firing) because this GM is so damn gun shy about decision making.

And who comes out of the lineup then exactly?
No one, it’s clear Holland is working on a trade and this is to buy a tiny bit of time. Holland don’t run a 20 man roster long

At the end of the day the easy move would be just to waive Puljujarvi he probably gets claimed for a test drive no loss to that team even if they let him walk due to the QO.

This to me means that they are working on something obviously not done by any means. I would be shocked if they went into the playoffs with this small of a roster.

I don't really get your anger here. It takes two to tango. Just because Holland wants to trade JP doesn't mean there will be a market for him until better forwards move. Or maybe there's a bigger play here. What if Grier wants Puljujarvi in the Karlsson deal and they're still ironing it out? Really we have no clue as fans what's going on behind the scenes.

I actually think it's smart of him to buy time like this. Who would've thought at the beginning of the season that we could run with a 21 man / over the cap roster all the way up until the trade deadline?

Holland is the epitome of someone who does not trade from a position of weakness.

I guess the local media can go beat off about getting something right for once. Insiderzzzz

I officially hate Ken Holland. It was mild dislike before.

Yes he’s made some good moves like Kane and Hyman.

Butt the guy is a dinosaur and past his prime.

Look at New York pushing through making things happens meanwhile back in Moron cave we have Kenny boy letting this Jesse shit go on and on. It affects the locker room. Make no doubt about it.

Get your 7th round pick Holland and start doing your god Damn f***ing job.

I think I might need to eat. Could be hangry

Also like it takes another GM to want to make the move as well and most of the time that happens closer to the deadline. So like we can’t bitch and moan about timely fashion when it takes two to tango and the other GM(s) understand our cap situation and are probably leveraging that for more or haven’t come down on insane prices (I.e first for Edmundson and his back problems).

If it's short term pain for long term gain I still make that move 10 times out of 10. Ultimately we won't be able to evaluate until we see how the Puljujarvi saga ends. And even if Puljujarvi is given away for free at that point, that's not to say we would have been able to give him away for free now.

I'm sure it's short term can kicking and all that but it's still annoying because what I would have done is just waive Puljujarvi, and I would have done that because I'd have been pretty thrilled if he got claimed.

But then I'm trying to clear some cap space to make this team better while Oilers management is worried about sabotaging Broberg's development so I suppose we aren't on the same page.

Deadline isn't for 2 weeks. Holland can't guarantee a trade today.

In fact as Karlsson hasn't been scratched who knows how close they even are?

I’m disappointed that this shit is being stalled even longer (and hate hate hate seeing a short handed roster to dress junk like JP) but am still expecting a move or two by the TDL. I think these local clown media speculating that Karlsson would be an off-season add are right, especially after what Brad Holland said yesterday

This is where perspective matters. This means other things. Possibilities.

1. Someone interested in JP wants to see him play and sending him down kills any potential deal.
2. Deal might be closer and potential cap implications with teams so closer to deadline day might help the deal.
3. If JP clears we don't get the full cap relief of his salary, just a portion.
4. Holland has intel that JP might get claimed on waivers and doesn't want to lose him for free.

I don't find the moves interesting per se, but I don't think the hate is a full requirement at this time.

Yeah lets send down our best or second best defenceman (at actually playing defence) so we can keep Puljujarvi (useless) around.

It's not like we're playing (checks notes) the Rangers and Avalanche next.

Real smart Kenny.
Desarnais is still banged up and listed as day-to-day anyway. They can send him down if he still needs to rest up and heel some strains or whatever. Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water here.

Holland is an embarrassment. Can't believe Katz pays him 5 million for these decisions.

Not to mention what it costs for Brad Holland, Steve Staios, Keith Gretzky and Paul Coffey. Quite the f***ing brain trust we have at the helm

Pushing through what?

I’m not seeing the bad optics others are talking about.
That’s ok. We don’t all have to see things the same way.

I mean getting this Pooly saga over with. It’s not helping the team. Pushing through = making things happen.

These movies could be a precursor. So let’s hope so

We're sitting in a wild card spot, OK, the Oilers might want to realize this, they're not gaurunteed anything, they're not even in the top 3 in a weak division (sorry but getting close and then letting off the gas every time doesn't count).

We need Desharnais in the lineup ASAP, we have Colorado on Sunday, we need him in.

I feel like there’s some pillars in the air. We’re just waiting for them to drop. Otherwise this makes no sense

5. He's showing other GM's that he has more options than most think, and isn't going to let his tight cap space situation be used to extort him into making an awful deal.
