manning had the lower cap hit and jones + 3rd> cug. The only saving grace is Keith may be able to be play third pairingThis isn't even remotely true.

If Holland loses 1 trade this offseason but manages to win 2 others, I still consider this off season a success. We have no idea what his plans are.It doesn’t matter how it went down. What matters is what went down. And what went down is a bad trade.
Now that the initial frustration has worn off for me, I've been thinking.
Maybe Holland did this trade FOR McDavid. It's pretty clear that we lack the necessary leadership to get to the next level. He could have sat McDavid down and told him that Keith was available but only at THIS price. Maybe once it became know that Keith wanted to play in Western Canada, McDavid reached out to Holland?
We have no idea how this all went down, and clearly the Oilers desperately wanted Keith.
I'm all for having Keith, I was just hoping for some retention considering how desperate Chicago was to move him. But whats done is done. Im going to hold off with my judgement towards Holland for now.. atleast until the end of the summer. He has to have some sort of plan and other moves in the works.
How many grey hairs does Greene have? Is he using Just For Men yet? If so, Holland probably goes up to 7MMaybe we can sign Andy Greene to replace Adam Larsson. 2 years at 5.5 mil sound good?
For the trade itself, I don’t like it. For the mindset, I think it is the right way in general. To say that it is ridiculous to want two people/sides to be content after a trade is kind of mind-boggling to be honest. Our society is built on this, and is being destroyed by people not following that principle. We should also not beat teams in hockey games. At least let it go to OT so both sides are happy.
This is a ridiculous mindset.
Manning wasn't an NHL player who hurt McDavid because he's not a good enough player, also a racist POS. SO No, this trade isn't worse, if you're convinced it is, you're out of your mind.manning had the lower cap hit and jones + 3rd> cug. This extremely overpaid Cap hit ruins lots of options for this off season. And this isn’t Holland’s first failed trade for this organization. If it was his first I’d be a lot more forgiving, but he’s quickly gaining a reputation as a lay down for the rest the Leagues GMs.If Holland loses 1 trade this offseason but manages to win 2 others, I still consider this off season a success. It's pretty close in my mind. Keith can fall of the cliff and we are stuck with a $5.5 M cap hit, compared to $2.5 MManning wasn't an NHL player who hurt McDavid because he's not a good enough player, also a racist POS. This is what people don’t get though.
Chicago wasn’t desperate to move him.
They were doing him a favour.
They have space now to go after a Hamilton or someone like that but their d is still not pretty.
I mean he’s said it in the past, so it should not come as a surprise. However, I am not putting judgement into the assets he gave up, that wasn’t my point. What I am saying is that the people calling for him to fleece or bend over Chicago don’t really know Holland. He has said in the past that he does not work that way, like it or not. Then he is as bad of a gm as some of us have been thinking. This guy is so much worse than tambellini it is not even funny. "Oh I want Chicago to be happy, i'll toss in a 3rd"

If the Hawks weren't going to retain then you don't say "Well that's fine", you walk away from the deal.I mean he’s said it in the past, so it should not come as a surprise. This is where my frustration is as well.If the Hawks weren't going to retain then you don't say "Well that's fine", you walk away from the deal.
There is no incentive to make this deal from an Oilers perspective if the Hawks weren't either going to take on a bad deal themselves or retain salary. This is where my frustration is as well.

If Keith sucks (I don’t think he will) that’ll become Chia level bad real quick. You're not wrong but he still hasn't done anything close to Chia level yet.. hopefully it's only up from here lol
Of course, that is not what I was arguing. I just saw again and again posts about why Holland didn’t bend Chi over, the reply was to that.If the Hawks weren't going to retain then you don't say "Well that's fine", you walk away from the deal.
Holland’s probably too embarrassed. Bowman is too busy finishing off the last sips of his Champagne. Why haven’t the teams announced this?
I believe the value of the play from the team was higher then where we saw it, but that doesn't help if he doesn't live up to it.There is no incentive to make this deal from an Oilers perspective if the Hawks weren't either going to take on a bad deal themselves or retain salary.
If this trade didn't happen the way it did, would Chicago even have a chance at Seth Jones? I know this is all speculation, but it makes too much sense.
I think they were desperate but for whatever reason Holland was even more desperate.
