Why not get BOTH Jagr and Jokinen?

Maroon-McDavid-Draisaitl
Lucic-RNH-Jagr
Caggiula-Strome-Jokinen
Slepyshev-Letestu-Kassian
Khaira

Now THAT'S a Playoff Contender :yo:

I'm guessing salary cap comes into play when you are trying to sign both Jaromir Jagr and Jussi Jokinen... otherwise they could add Josh Jooris, Jack Johnson, Jacob Josefson and Jyrki Jokipakka as well.

Last two times Jokinen produced less than 30 points, he rebounded nicely.

2008-09 - 71 Games, 27 points - 2009-2010 - 81 games, 65 points (30 goals)

2012-13 - 43 games, 22 points - 2013-14 - 81 games 57 points (21 goals)

2016-17 - 69 games, 28 points - 2017-18 ????

Also jumped to 60 points two years ago after only 44 the previous

Seems like a decent gamble on a versatile player if the money is right.

Went to check on Jagrs salary from last year, 4M with 1.5M bonuses, total of 5.5M. That's a lot.
I'm not sure if you can trust Tallon but he said he couldn't afford Jagr.

Jokinen was bought out, he'll get money from that.

My guess, Jokinen 2x2.

I understand why Jagr's more exciting he is a legend and has been the far more prolific scorer, but Jokinen is a really great fit for our team, we clearly need help on the PK, we can use another shootout guy with Ebs gone, and if Pulju is going to get some icetime this year he could be a good mentor for him; Jokinen also plays at a similar pace to our team.

I'd actually prefer Jokinen over Jagr, since the fit is better for our group.

Jokinen would be a good addition, especially since our SO record is pretty bad if i remember correctly

Funny how a faceoff specialist with strong penalty killing (Two things this team absolutely needs. Easily our biggest weakness when healthy) who bounces back ala Rick Nash is a let down.
Cause I'm the same way. I really want Jagr to play in Edmonton. Top three NHL scorers (Top four eventually? ;)) would be special.

But Jussi does us a lot of good.

Is anyone hearing anything about an Offer Sheet from NJ on Draisaitl?

Why would a team that was in the basement OS someone not named McDavid?

Friedman talking like Tavares will be looking at McDavid type money, maybe not quite that high but still high.

Have fun with that Eberle contract Garth!

A buddy was saying something about it, but I doubt there's anything to it.

They did, but I still don't see them doing it, and the Oilers would match anyways.

It'd be a dumb move although they may think that he'd get Hall to a PPG level again.

Wait am I missing something? Is there a source about signing a JJ?

As others have said the turtle man is legit so when he speaks generally there is something going down.

Well ST did mention something big on trade deadline. Just got descharnais. So could be wrong.

Things are often in flux and he may have jumped the gun n that one. Regardless he is now some "McDavid for $11 million, book it", "Wingels will be an Oiler" or "Sharp to Calgary book it" type. He has to have legit connections.

Jagr? Jokinen?

It's Jussi Jokinen.

A guy at Finnish hockey forum Jatkoaika stated several hours ago that Jokinen goes to Oilers based on info from inner circle. So basically with this it's now confirmed.

Nice, he'd be a great mentor for Puljujarvi.

BAH GAWD KING, that's Jesse Joensuu's music!!!!!....

Why is Jokinen a let down? He's no Jagr but he is a Finn with a lot of experience, is versatile and would help Puljujarvi a lot.

Agreed completely. I think some people are in love with the novelty that is Jagr but Jokinen would be the smarter signing for this team. Would be happy with Jagr as well.

Same here. I'd rather it be Jokinen, IF this is legit. And ST has done nothing in past posting history to make me think it wouldn't be.

Considering who our GM is and what his preferences are in a player, bringing Jussi in makes a lot more sense than bringing in Jagr.

Jokinen makes the most sense for this team. Can play wing and C. Improves our FO's and PK. Vet presence. Fin for JP.

Jokinen-RNH-JP as the 3rd line.

Gives JP 2 experienced players and also fall in line with TM's comments to have RNH focus on more offense

Honestly he might be a better fit than Jagr for the simple fact that he kills penalties and is a faceoff guy. Having another guy who can take defensive zone faceoffs to spell of Letestu would be a big help. One right shot, one left shot.

For all the talk of our LW being stacked, it really isn't. Our top 2 guys are Maroon and Lucic, but after that it's Caggiula and who? Khaira out of position? We're not exactly deep on either wing.

Jagr has been a dream of mine for years, but I would be lying to myself if 50% of that desire wasn't just to see him put on an Oiler jersey regardless of what he actually brings to the table at this stage of his career.
