It really is 6 teams, holy shit.

No idea how imaginative this league is with colors. Probably why the Mighty Ducks were so novel.

Flyers are the only team in the East that isn’t blue, back, or red.

Wild (who once tried to be red), Stars, Predators, Golden Knights, Ducks. Avalanche depending on what you think Burgundy is.

If someone went to purple they’d be the highest sellers in the league.
Kings should have went purple. Instead they spent millions to just play in their 90’s jerseys. They were the first with the Forum “blue” and could have easily gone to it and be unique. Now they’re stuck with their raiders jerseys again.

I’d much rather they go soccer style, and let both teams wear whatever colour, if they’re different (eg Oilers and Islanders couldn’t both wear blue, but Dallas could wear green and Detroit wear red)

red-green would be a nightmare for people with that type of color blindness

devils are dealing with 3rd jerseys which the hawks wore in whatever f***ing outdoor game they were in...can't wait for them to being abolished

since Adidas they actually made the white jersey less available and some teams didn't even sell white jerseys to the public.
Colored jerseys have always outsold white jerseys 2:1, even when whites were the home jerseys, and it didn't change when they changed the home jerseys to color. Alternates sell about the same as the whites, and are almost always colored as well, so color versus white is about 3:1 (per Bettman years ago on his radio show when asked about the switch to colors at home).

Fans have always far preferred to buy the team color version of the jersey, not the white one. Look at what you see when you go to a game. The only people really buying white jerseys are the people who feel the need to have a complete set.

yes i know this, i am a jersey collector, i was replying to someone who said the change was because white jerseys are lacking in sales, when its conscious choice to make them less available for sale. Away jerseys aren't even available this year for sale at all.

...white jersey sales are down comparatively; they are also replaced at a much higher frequency due to frequent wear & tear (staining, etc)...purely MONEY decision, not a nostalgic one...

The NFL has one game a week. NHL teams go on road trips and don’t want to clean, dry, and haul an extra set of jerseys and helmets around North America for a week and a half.

This has come up a few times as a reason why they can't do this over the years but it's really silly.

Each player can fit two helmets in their own player bag which is already coming on the trip and then it's three extra bags/cases, one for the set of jerseys, one for the extra socks(which doesn't take up a ton of space) and one for extra helmets. It's really not that much stuff to take, especially for these teams that are already flying on private planes.

It's no matter to me either way, I was just explaining the logical reason behind it, but I think the silly aspect of all this is giving a flying care over the color of jerseys when watching a hockey game.

Teams shouldn't have home and away, they should go to the soccer standard of having primary, secondary, and tertiary kits. Home team chooses, road team can wear whichever kit is deemed not to clash with the home team's choice.
If the reasoning here is to sell more jerseys, this is the way

I mean I prefer the white at home as well but why not do 50-50? So sometime they would wear color at home or abroad and something they would wear their white jerseys at home and abroad.

It's about time! Let's go! I will never get used to the home team being darks.

I hope the dark on dark rings true. Especially after seeing Canada red vs. Sweden yellow earlier this week. Maple Leafs blue vs the bright red of the Red Wings at the Winter Classic was aesthetically stunning and I've wondered why we haven't seem more of it.
