I like the idea of the home team choosing.

Have teams submit their jersey choices weeks ahead of time, which is more than enough time to allow the visiting teams to prepare if they have a long road trip.

But we also have to keep things visually friendly for those with color blindness, do dark vs dark matchups should be rare and only in instances where it will be friendly for them.

It really is 6 teams, holy shit.

No idea how imaginative this league is with colors. Probably why the Mighty Ducks were so novel.

Flyers are the only team in the East that isn’t blue, back, or red.

Wild (who once tried to be red), Stars, Predators, Golden Knights, Ducks. Avalanche depending on what you think Burgundy is.

If someone went to purple they’d be the highest sellers in the league.
If you can find it, I made a thread about this. I'm not sure how to post a link though.

Agreed, I think this is basically how the NFL operates and it works fine.
Difference is football is played once a week. Teams don't want to carry all the extra equipment for road trips. Football has none of that.

This has come up a few times as a reason why they can't do this over the years but it's really silly.

Each player can fit two helmets in their own player bag which is already coming on the trip and then it's three extra bags/cases, one for the set of jerseys, one for the extra socks(which doesn't take up a ton of space) and one for extra helmets. It's really not that much stuff to take, especially for these teams that are already flying on private planes.
Just because they can doesn’t mean they want too. Teams are always going to look for ways save money and saving weight means saving money on planes.

Changing from whites at home to darks is the best decision the NHL has made in the past 25 years. Reversing it would be monumentally stupid

In your opinion. I think it is also monumentally stupid to not let the home crowd see the visiting teams colorful jersey’s.

Like I said, there is no reason the NHL can’t implement the home team wears white the first half of the season and darks the second half. Then let the home team choose in the playoffs like the NFL does.

How about just wear what you want with the proviso no two teams can have the same primary colours (aka white on white, or in specific cases blue vs blue, red vs red, etc).

Why would I want to see another team’s colours in my arena? Road teams could wear potato sacs for all I care.

I like seeing the variety of away teams tbh. Maybe wear the colors at home in the playoffs ?

I've heard this alot back when the league originally made the change.

I don't care either way but if there are season ticket holders that like to see the different colours, it's a pretty easy and non-offensive change to make.

Pro sports is about emptying your wallet. Nothing more.
One can argue that the point of any business is to get people to pay for a service or product that the business off

If a consumer spends too much omoney on pro sports that is the fault of the consumer not the provider of the product or service.

Out of all the marketing ideas to help grow the game this may be the most irrelevant one yet. The NHL really should flush the entire marketing department down the toilet, they have zero innovative ideas.
