Then and there
With Raum and Kimmich often pushing forward, and Andrich and especially Kroos not quick or defensive enough, that leaves them exposed to counter if they lose the ball on those situations.

Without Rudiger's recovery speed, they could have conceded a goal or two.

Germany has for years played without any proper defensive midfield cover. They basically rely almost entirely on having athletic centerbacks and an aggressive goalkeeper. It's by design at this point, and it's also one of the main reasons why Germany have not gotten into a QF of a tournament in the previous three attempts. You can only win like that if you score goals up front with the chances you get, something Germany no longer has the great finishers for.

They need Wirtz on imo cos he can shoot from outside the box or make runs and Sane won't.

Denmark are gonna sit back and counter.

Did Michael Oliver go to one of those rich prestigious British schools? Always looks like he's above refereeing the game.

They don't even necessarily need to sit entirely back. It seems to me like even from build-up they can cause difficulty in the German defense. There was a scene in the first half where Denmark was passing the ball about pretty patiently in their own half and Germany were more or less letting them do it, eventually the ball ends up with a Danish defender who plays a simple straight forward long ball between the German centerbacks and it finds Ericksen who is only stopped from getting a high quality shot on net by Rudiger's last ditch deflection. That was basic, simple football that simply took advantage of lack of German pressure on the ball and lack of German defensive cover.
