* King
** McDonagh
*** Nash

(Credit to Dorsett as well. Thought he played his best game of the playoffs tonight).

  • The Rangers went into Montreal, a place where they always struggle and got 2 wins.
  • The broke the streak of not winning a game when having a series lead.
  • They tied a season high 5 game winning streak.
  • Lundqvist is quite possibly playing the best he has ever played in the playoffs.
  • The powerplay is starting to click.
  • Rick Nash is scoring.

This game was SO huge for this team. If this is a dream, please, nobody better wake me up...

Subban is pretty good huh? He definitely was trying too hard toward the end, though. Seeing him try to take on the 1-2-2 by himself several times was funny.

Desharnais reminds me of Zucc. That was easily their best line. Need to match up with them in NY.

Hopefully Nash continues to roll. Having Kreider back is huge for him. It opens up a lot more room on the ice.

Also hopefully Brassard is good to go Thursday.

No celebrating yet. Long way to go.

Please please PLEASE come home and take it game by game. Game 3 on home ice... Great team game today. AV has them playing well and disciplined

A bit of a sloppy game. But being up 2-0 is insane. Insane.

Hank was a freak. McD was awesome. And Nash played a great game in all 3 zones. The 4th line was a factor on most shifts.

Zucc had a rough game. Pouliot was Pouliot. The D had some sloppy plays. Staal had a rough start. My biggest problem was Richards. He looked abysmal.

They need Brassard back. And Moore needs to take more shifts on the Richards line towards the end of games when up.

In the end: big win.

Even for a guy who defended the team most of the season, it's nuts to see how far they've come.

It's bizarre this victim-like attitude montreal seems to adopt. What was Therrien doing with his little "I don't wanna play no more" moment??

First period was garbage. Anyone who says otherwise wasn't watching the game. But after that was good.

On thursday though, I really hope we don't see a repeat of that first period.

Lirl they so mad over on the Devils boards in that playoff thread of theirs.

Everything seems to be clicking right now. Hope they can sustain it long enough. It's been a hell of a ride so far and I wouldn't give it back for the 1st rounder.

In the history of this franchise, it never had a 2-0 lead in the third round. The old Cups were two rounds after the regular season. After 1940, we never were up 2-0 in the third round.

They're using the "refs were giving them everything" card? Against the rangers? have these clowns not followed the ref controversy against us all season?

Just great. Just GREAT!

Let us see a sweep, and a long and exhausting 7 game series out west :D

A couple of things:

-We are lucky to get that 1-1 goal when we did, MTL came out flying and had us pinned down. They "deserved" their lucky goal, we didn't. I think 20 of the last 21 games played had been won by the team scoring first (did Chi score first? in G1 against LA), it takes a bounce or two to get back and we got that.

-We are up 2-0, half the foot in the Finals. If we loose G3, MTL is one game away from taking the series tied back to MTL for G5. Its faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from over. Good start though. ;)

-Like I've said before Therrien is taking a lot of risks and has been tilting somewhat going into this series. Everyone knew this series would be wild, but if its one thing I think speaks in our favor (besides goaltending), its the fact that Therrien don't seem to care about icing a team with composure. Granted how wild this series was destined to be, I wonder if that was a wise call to be perfectly honest.

-Ryan McDonagh providing a spark offensively has definitely been on key for us so far. You just must get that.

Now if only Staal/Strålman could keep their nerves every now and then and make a play that counts offensively we would be dangerous for real.

-There has been a lot of talk about certain players scoring goals after being slumps. But when I watch the games, the reason we win is that we ice 4 lines that against Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Montreal has done a perfectly decent job of holding their own and playing a solid game of hockey. There is no break downs in terms of one line as a whole not beign able to handle a line on the other team as a whole (of course there are individual misstakes made, but that will always happen).

Often, on away ice, and over the last three series in 2nd periods, we end up a bit on our backs. But we still somewhat always manage to keep our heads above water.

That is why we still are playing.

Ron Dugay is a freak and I just love the guy.

His suit jacket gets him poll worthy imo.

Damn we peaked early. You don't win a Cup in May! ;)

I find it crazy that MTL fans are calling for "retribution attacks" on Kreider, going as far as taking screen caps and gifs and getting all forensic-like.

It's a crappy accident on a hockey play caused by their own guy swinging his stick. :help:

I was really impressed with the way we saw out the game, that last 10 or so minutes was the most 'in control' hockey I'd seen from Rangers in quite a while. Normally, with a 2 goal lead, you're nervous about conceding the next goal, as it can lead to a ropey finish, but other than the PP, I just never felt we were gonna concede. Ok, The King made a few big saves, but I always felt that Les Habs played out that last few minutes knowing the were out of ideas.
