Ryan McDonagh is playing great hockey again. He played 25 minutes last night and he could have played 10 more minutes without breaking a sweat.

PK Subban always has at least one Ranger player in front of him. There was the sequence in the 2nd period where Subban had to skate through layers. There was one Ranger waiting for him. There was another Ranger waiting for him. Then another waiting for him. Therrien put Subban and Gorges out there against Stepan's line to get Emelin and Markov away from Kreider. The Rangers have last change in the next two games. Having Subban worry about Kreider coming down his side does take away from Subban's game. That match-up favors the Rangers. Putting Stepan's line against the Habs 2nd or 3rd pair favors the Rangers.

I like watching the NHL Network post-game coverage. They had Scott Oake of CBC interviewed McDonagh and you could see the Rangers management led by Sather going into the Rangers. Marc Denis of RDS interviewed Henrik. They had Dorsett on the arena cam interview. They have the podium interviews before MSG does.

From the times I have watched the Habs this season, I have never seen them skate as hard as they did last night. I've never seen them win more puck battles than they did last night. Yet, here we are going back to MSG up 2-0. WOW.

I think it was Pierre in the third period who said that the way the Rangers were playing was "surgical". I don't think you could have worded that any better. It was such a well executed gameplan to make sure we got the win on the road.

Henrik Lundqvist. What else can you say about this guy?

We need to come out harder than any game we have in game three. Win on Thursday, and keep this series as short as possible.

EDIT - Also, you think Hank isn't in these guys' heads? Vanek passed on a partial breakaway :yo:

I know the Rangers normally stick with the blue home jerseys in the playoffs but it would be kind of cool if they went with the heritage jerseys considering Montreal is an original 6 team. Just my thoughts this morning.

Let’s make it clear, to borrow the language used by Lundqvist following the morning skate: There was nothing Kreider, faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a locomotive, could have done to avoid skidding into Price after he was clipped on the right skate on his sprint to the net by a hopelessly beaten Alexei Emelin.

The Montreal fans booed Kreider every time he touched the puck. That included the shift late in the first on which he sent a three-on-two feed across to Rick Nash — goal-scorer Rick Nash, to you—who buried it for a 2-1 lead at 18:58.

“I thought it was hilarious,†Kreider told The Post when asked his reaction to the hubbub. “To tell you the truth, it helped me get up for the game.

“It lit a fire under my ass that I don’t think is going away any time soon.â€

Omg the devils board is filled with some hilarious stupid comments that only the fans of the devils can muster lol if you want a quick laugh check it out

Hopefully Brassard can play in game three on Thursday. The Rangers need his playmaking ability on that line. The Richards line hasn't generated much at even strength. The Stepan line has woken up with the addition of Kreider. Cycle the puck down low in the Habs left wing corner. The corner to the left of the Habs goaltender. Left handed shots on the Rangers. Generate offense. They didn't do that much last night. Put Moore back with Boyle and Dorsett. Carcillo didn't hurt them last night.

I'm sure but that team wasn't nearly as good or as deep as this one, yet this Rangers team is the lucky one. They hate the Rangers so we can't really expect them to say anything positive about them, but I hope they don't actually believe half of that crap.

The guy saying NBC was biased towards the Rangers was great.

I love how much everyone is starting to hate Kreider. I hope he keeps playing this way because it's a great trolljob.

I saw this in Swedish media and got a good lol-moment.

Aftonbladet asked Doug Murray before the game if he feared facing Carl Hagelin coming down at full speed at left wing. Doug Murray response was: "Nobody is fast after you have knocked them down on the ice."

The King dominated the game...by the way all this talk of retribution was a joke nothing happened....Habs put all there eggs in one basket and tried everything to win last night, and still lost, Thursday we will dictate the pace to them and smother them, what a luxury Hank is....play hard, deliver the pain! LGR!!!

Subban wants to see how Lundqvist reacts when Habs get a couple by him. Not an easy challenge. As Therrien said he stole game 2.

^^^^
Lol 2 and 1 is 3 so isn't that a couple?

or does he mean couple in a game? :sarcasm:

Mhh, I've thought a bit about if I like Kreider's cockyness or not, and I do for sure.

But I don't want him to become "too" hated.

All in all, I think Kreider is coming along really really well lately. I love that AV has stayed with that line, because it certainly hasn't always been playing well. After a full season, they started to play good 2-way hockey, but still had very little production. Now they have scored a bit again, and while it certainly could revert to being streaky again, the continuity it has been given is starting to pay off.

And when you think about it, if they can keep improving a bit we will all of a sudden have a first line that is decent 2-ways, and can score a bit, but that has really good size, one winger that is 6'4 and the other is 230 lbs.

Also, lets remember that the stats of that line must be seen in the light of the fact that they are playing behind two Ds who this year basically has not been able to accomplish anything offensively. I mean they have 36 pts in a combined 185 games this year, and its extremely rare to see one of them make an opening play on the ice.

So, here's a couple of interesting facts for ya:

Dan Girardi (unless he gets injured) will tie the Rangers franchise record for most playoff games played (84). He's currently at 80. That should give some of you an idea of what a pretty successful franchise this has been since the lockout. 80 playoff games since 2006-07 or, take it back a year further, and it's 84. Add to that whatever is left this year.

Henrik Lundqvist will tie Mike Richter with most playoff wins (41) with his next victory.

I've heard it a few times now from a few different players and coaches about the leadership in the room and I'm thinking of a few players Richards, Lundqvist, Girardi, and St. Louis. It's hard to believe G is 29 already and, whatever happens in the off season, I think a much maligned center (last year) has earned some respect from NY Rangers fans. It's obvious that he's a guy people are looking on and off the bench during this run. Good on him. And bad on Tortorella for not figuring out some way to tap into that last year.

Gotta wonder how Ryan Callahan feels right about now about his contract demands and what he's missing this spring.
