All the "lets not get ahead of ourselves" posts. You all do realize that I could proclaim that the Leafs are going to win the Cup without losing another game and it would have literally no impact on the actual games right?

I mean, we also have a ton of momentum. The team just got rid of the huge mental barrier that has plagued us for years
Both teams have reasons to be confident. I just think we're a better all around team and should beat these guys
I agree, but to act as if it's impossible to beat them playing the way we have against a superior opponent is just odd.
Boston was the superior team the majority of the series and just lost.

That's not how it works.
They've had a more successful Season, but they aren't the better hockey team.
Remember the phrase " it's not who you play it's when you play them "? Florida is playing great, they have tons of talent. DO NOT under estimate them.
This. What we say on here literally has no meaning towards anything on the ice. I think it’s just people in their own heads trying not to be overly optimistic and that shows you how many times we’ve been heart broken it’s a huge insecurity

He wlll motivate Bunting though too in their playing style. In fact, his presence ALWAYS motivates the Leafs and Gio is his former captan so he knows what a tool he often is.
Outside of NJ, objectively this is the best 2nd Round matchup Leafs could hope for IMO. Of course they won't be cocky, I'm sure Boston thought the same before the series started so the Leafs won't underestimate anyone.
The Leafs appear confident no matter who they face though, they have to be!ieve after knocking off the powerhouse Lightning . Leafs are on a mission this year, I sense it. an entirely different mind set, especially.from guys like.Matthews.
They had better be ready in Game One though, Florida.will maintsin their rhythm as the game is on Tuesday while Leafs might be conplacent....
I’ve heard Boston choked before way worse than we ever did. Apparently they played the flyers were not only up 3 games to 0, they were also leading the 4th game 3-0 but ended up losing the series. So choking is nothing new to Boston. Lol!

I think the best thing about facing Florida is that of the big 4 Atlantic teams they have the most glaring weaknesses. Their forwards are great, but their defense and goaltending....
Tkachuk is probably the best winger in the league for my money, and Barkov is a mid-tier 1C. Verhaeghe & Reinhart are also not to be slept on. Outside of that it's a rotation of plugs (Cousins, White, Staal, Dalpe, etc) post-hype guys that pose a threat (Duclair, Bennett), and two young good players in Lundell and Luostarinen that haven't fully hit their stride, but are contributing. Outside of their best 4, nobody else scares me in the least besides Bennett going on one of his ridiculous hot streaks.
As for the defense Ekblad is a very good defenseman (obviously). Montour can't defend for shit, and really doesn't create much offense or do much else besides rat it up and produce points. Really the kind of guy you go "wow he played like shit, holy f*** he has 3 points?". Gudas is a fine defenseman that we'll be screaming at for dirty shit, but he plays 3rd minutes. Forsling I can't believe is still a top pairing defenseman. Mark Staal I can't believe is on a playoff roster, let alone playing top-4.
Their goaltending is their biggest weakness, and their defense is already a huge one. My money says we're either gonna score 5 a game or gonna get Korpisalo'd. There's no in between.

I said this on our board ( Sabres) but I will say it again here. Congrats on having home ice for this entire series. If Cats fans thought the Boston invasion was bad then they'll be in for another rude awakening. It always amazes me everytime I go to a game down here just how many people I see decked out in Leafs gear. And that's when the Leafs arent even playing lol. Lots of Habs gear as well but that's irrelevant. It wouldn't shock me to see a Sea of White during every game in Sunrise.

If people were betting on the Leafs blowing a 3-1 series lead or the Bruins doing it, I doubt many would've bet on the Bruins being the ones losing 3 straight and going home in the 1st round. It was nice that the Leafs got it done in 6 so that Leafs fans wouldn't have this game in the back of their minds going into a game 7.
Boston looked like complete shit. If not for some really questionable calls, Florida shuts them out tonight.

Florida looked very Leaf like. They were running circles all over the ice. Florida made them look listless.
