Florida is a talented team up front. Not as deep or structured at all positions as Tampa or Boston but they are a skilled team. Tampa was about as good a warmup as we could have gotten for the pressure they'll bring in our end. We should have an easier time generating offence through the neutral zone.

I like our chances but the boys need to be ready because Florida is coming in feeling like world beaters. GLG

Florida came into Game 1 flying and hitting everything on skates. They pulled off a major upset and have the winds at their backs. Wouldn't take this team lightly at all.

But happy it's not Boston.
I’m somewhat reminded of LA underperforming the year after a successful season and continuing on to win the cup. This is a team that had over 120 points last season and saw growing pains adjusting to some new teammates and injuries during the regular season. They’re not particularly a joke like some people made them out to be. I’m not sure them beating Boston is even that much of an upset.

Lets not fool ourselves boys. This series will be very tough and no guarentees. How many times did the Leafs beat the "better" team in the play-offs with Ottawa 20 years ago. Florida is not a walk in the park and should be taken seriously. They have a lot of git and talent and if they leafs do not take it seriously then they could be the next boston. Go Leafs Go.
There are no guarantees and we’re not the ones playing. I think as fans we are fairly saying that Florida is a much more desireable opponent than Boston for numerous reasons. You can’t tell me that guys like Matthews and Marner can’t dominate old man Marc Staal and Gudas. Even Bobrovsky is kind of meh

I know it’s dangerous to underestimate an opponent but it’s hard to see how the Florida matchup can be seen as anything other than a positive compared with the Bruins.

Doesn’t guarantee anything, and I would have loved nothing better than to see the Leafs exorcise their Bruins demons, but if you have to pick an opponent you pick Florida.

Let’s hope they’re a one and done Cinderella story.

Leafs just shut down Kucherov and Point. Tkachuk is amazing no doubt, but I feel the Panthers have the bigger problem having an answer for all of the Leafs weapons.

This. I choose to play Florida a million times out of a million.

Florida has good elements to their game, I would still be very weary of them. However. Looks like their D is nowhere near the systems TB has.
Never sleep on an opponent in a 7 game playoff series. That's how you lose to teams like Columbus and Montreal despite being heavy favorites on paper. We have the talent to beat them but people shouldn't get ahead of themselves. I do prefer them match-up wise to the Bruins though.

So, my guess is we play Wednesday since the SBA is booked for Thursday. Question is, if we play Wednesday do we get an extra day off between games 1 and 2 because they want it in the HNIC. I have a hard time seeing the first game being Tuesday since when Tampa beat us last year it was May 14th and they didn't play Florida until May 17th for game one, and that involved significantly less travel if Florida is flying back to Fort Lauderdale tonight.

Man is the Atlantic just filled with nothing but heavy teams with scumbags all over. Toronto, Florida, Tampa, Boston. Every team trying to build a team that can beat you in the alley and on the scoresheet. Just a different brand of hockey here than the other divisions.

It's open Thursday.

Unfortunately I’m not gonna be able to make it down to South Florida but I hope many of you can. Let’s invade their barn!
