Biz on the US broadcast is 100% spot on. Most of the team's stars aren't showing up tonight other than Willy.

Best thing for the third is it literally doesn't matter how awful they were for the first 40. Just need to bring it.

If Matthews comes out and has one of the best periods of his playoffs the Leafs win this game handily

Tavares has been a HUGE problem 5on5 for the entire season. I've been talking about that for a long while.

Keefe on the other hand is content with giving tavares regular 5on5 minutes the same as Gio when both have them have sucked ass in the playoffs IMO

He doesn't engage defensively and becomes a liability at the middle of the ice.

Nylander could have become a phenomenal C.

He could have become a phenomenal W also.

At least on the wing his defensive inability to engage can be masked.

So basically, Marner is who he is. He plays great in the regular season, cause the great stats will be great at negotiation time, but playoff comes around and his effort level is nonexistent. Is he playing for the jersey, or just the name on the back? Gotta wonder.

I don't think it's malicious or calculated. He just happens to be a guy who plays scared and small in the big game situations.

I'll say this though. Matthews and Marner would have benefitted a lot in their development years if there were more Olympics, World Cup and international tournaments where they could have worked out some big game kinks, learned for free from other gamers and gotten away from the Leaf echo chamber.

Hard to do that IMO not to say Matthews cannot do more its just hard to do that as a one man guy if you don't have support from your wingers. Marner is trash, Bunting can finish a check but cannot engage in a cycle. Matthews is not carrying the puck

Matthews-Marner need to be separated IMO and they have to play ROR more than Tavares in the 3rd
