No this is basically the standard Marner performance for a game of this magnitude.

So basically, Marner is who he is. He plays great in the regular season, cause the great stats will be great at negotiation time, but playoff comes around and his effort level is nonexistent. Is he playing for the jersey, or just the name on the back? Gotta wonder.

I doubt he miraculously changes his Caspar the perimeter ghost play in the 3rd. Same with Matthews, and JT.

It would help if nylander could actually take over the game with goals and assists instead of xGF% and GF%

Yup, he has been particularly bad and Matthews and Tavares have been mostly invisible too.

Here we are at gut check time again for these guys.

People are raving about Nylander inexplicably again because he made a nice pass and that’s true, but he’s still avoiding contact in Kesselian fashion and not going where he needs to too score just like the other three.

You're right about Marner, but Matthews isn't playing honest hockey either.

Hard to do that IMO not to say Matthews cannot do more its just hard to do that as a one man guy if you don't have support from your wingers. Marner is trash, Bunting can finish a check but cannot engage in a cycle. Matthews is not carrying the puck

Matthews-Marner need to be separated IMO and they have to play ROR more than Tavares in the 3rd
