Bean literally has the only PP goal in the series.

Bean has 100% Individual Points % on the PP for both the regular season and the Playoffs. If the PP2 scored recently then Bean had a point.

Not the guy the team would want to demote. Although Svechnikov is the only other player with 100% IPP (3 primary assists) for the Playoffs and was demoted. Meanwhile TT has 0 points, 3 giveaways, and a penalty and is still out there flubbing pucks so who knows.

Apparently we need better focus because we shat the bed twice against Nashville, squeaked out of the the other 2, and are 0-2 against TBL. On the "bright" side, our last 6 games (2-4) have been very winnable 1G games (the first 2 we dominated against Nash). We definitely seem to be suffering mental fatigue at this point, we're overthinking everything and it's costing us (over-passing, holding the puck too long, blind clears/passes after a few seconds). Our D has our only 2 goals in this series, if our offense can pull their heads out of their @$$es we have a chance

If Trocheck is a no go, I think that’s the nail in the coffin. He and Nino would be 2 of the top 6 forwards and the Canes have managed only 2 goals in 2 games. Next man up and all that crap, hard to make it work

Not that it matters because your overall point is valid, but Svech had the second goal.

TT (hasn’t really come back post concussion), Hakanpaa, GT need to be much much better. Plus, we’ve seemed leg weary since ended of season and that Preds series was very tough.

In Tampa, Bolts have lineup change advantage plus with Stamkos and Kuch quiet so far I’m not bullish on winning one let alone two.

We’re also giving up too many 2 on ones which will eventually burn us. Also, giving up first goals throughout the playoffs is bad.

Trochek was giving us zero in offense (and was quiet the back half of the year) but he was checking well. Still a loss since we don’t have anyone with sufficient quality to step in.

Canes have a great regular season team but do they have the grit on O and D (Hakanpaa in particular has been a disappointment in that he isn’t a banging player like I thought he would be) to win the Cup?

Right now I’d say no with the Bolts a prime example of what’s needed.

it’s disappointing because I really thought we had a SC lineup. Now with Hamilton probably going elsewhere and expansion draft looming, it’s possible we’ve missed our window. Farm system is decent but are there any stars on D and O near term ready? I don’t think so.

Can't figure out who this is

(Hakanpaa in particular has been a disappointment in that he isn’t a banging player like I thought he would be)

I thought he was fine in the Nashville series, where the physicality was dialed way up, but he has looked really bad against Tampa. He doesn't seem to have the mobility to keep up with them in the cycle game, and they have targeted him on that several times. If there were a metric for "shifts that ran too long because you couldn't get the puck back" I bet he would be leading the team right now.

I just keep thinking if we can steal a game or two in Tampa, then we're back home and anything is possible.

Praying for more good news re: Tro. We desperately need him.
Agreed. I felt this same exact way when Montreal stole the first 2 on our ice in 2006. That Habs team and this Bolts team are apples to oranges in comparison, but it was adversity nonetheless. Like I alluded to earlier, Game 3 is our Game 7 for now.

Was there a pre-season poll here in which we voted re: where the Canes would end up this season? I recall that there was a bit of discussion at the time re: whether this would really be a cup contender year or not. The mindset or mental toughness has always been my primary concern. I think it has improved a lot but might take a little more maturing and motivating pain and suffering to get there if this season is a miss.

Last week on SiruiusNHL, a TBL reporter said since his return that Kucherov has been pressing the team to get their acts together and challenging them as to whether they wanted to join the elite back to back winner's club or be a regular type of one season winner. He said the attitude in the locker room had really changed when compared to the regular season.
