Complaining about this pick is stupid. None of the players available in this draft 5 seem to have any better outlook than this kid. Who did you want? The other forward that projects to be a second liner at best or the defensemen that projects to be a second pair guy? I'd have preferred to trade back for that reason but honestly it seems he went right where everyone expected. It's almost like because he was linked to the Flyers pre-draft everyone is acting like it's a bad pick. I suspect if his name wasn't linked to the Flyers in the lead up to the draft people would feel differently than they do.

Not saying this is a great pick, but it isn't like they picked the guy that was off the board or left a clear cut stud on the board. It's what I'd expect in a thin draft class.

He wasnt on anyones radar until rumors the Flyers were interested started. Then all writers started ranking him higher bc it was known hed likely go 5th.

If chuck didnt take him hed probably still be undrafted (as of 13).

No I don't. I've been wrong before, no argument there. I've been right there with everyone else in Fletcher era that he sucks and his moves suck. This is not that situation. This is a thin draft class and they picked a guy that probably tops out as a second liner...like everyone else available. I would have taken Nazar or traded back but Nazar is the same outlook as is whomever they'd take if the traded back.

Saying dumb stuff like "typical Flyers lol!" is nonsense. What's "typical Flyers" about this? Who should they have taken that was clearly better? Jiricek... another defensemen to add to our stable of middling defensive prospects? One of the littany of other forwards that projects to be middle sixers?
