No. A really poor defensive structure. The team seemed to not care about their own end. This was the thing that drove Perreault down in the ratings. Poor coaching. That can change as he gets new coaches

But it also suggests his production was inflated, like the Islanders before Trotz.

All of a sudden, RW is no longer an issue with TK, Brink, Laczynski, Allison and Foerster (as well as NAK, Sandin, Kase and Sushko).
But with our aging LWs (Giroux, JVR, Raffl), we have Lindblom, Farabee and ??? (Ratcliffe, Cates & ???)
Though it's easier to draft LWs
Now if we can just find some RHDs.

I like our scouting and drafting for almost 2 decades. I'll be upset with this pick when there's a reason to be upset with this pick.

Our worst draft pick in the last 10 years is a guy who would have been a monster if it wasn't for injuries, and a guy still playing college hockey. I'm not too worried.
Rubtsov? Morin? Laughton?

He seems to have good skill to go along with the great shot. The speed and acceleration isn’t there, but good edges atleast.

Not my favorite pick, but he looks like a decent prospect

I really like the pick and I don't think we've had anyone in our organization with his skillset in a long time.
Pronman pondered that we have someone in our organization that thinks they can fix these guys' skating flaws.

NHL Draft winners and losers: Ranking every team's first round

18. Philadelphia Flyers
Pick: 23. Tyson Foerster
My ranking: No. 34 (change: +11)

The rise of Tyson Foerster has begun to write yet another chapter with his deserved selection this high. A year ago, Foerster wasn’t going to be a first-round pick. But after the Barrie Colts moved Ryan Suzuki and handed him the reins, he didn’t let go, stamped his claim as one of the best catch-and-release shooters in the OHL, dominated the top prospects game, and just never really slowed down. The Flyers have done an excellent job in recent years identifying forwards they can work with, rather than finished products (see: Morgan Frost, Joel Farabee). Foerster fits the mould, even though he wouldn’t likely have been my choice.

Sounds like he's more than just SNIPER, which is relieving. But the hockey fans obsession with this prototype is laughable.

I would never, ever value a player highly who's best attribute is by far his shot.

A shooter who has a high IQ and a work ethic who is coachable is invaluable, too many scorers come to the NHL with defense as an afterthought, because they see scoring as the path to the big money (and the chicks for free).

Immediate reaction is not a fan of the pick, and still have that feeling.

He's behind the pace of play in the OHL, how will he be able to keep up in the AHL much less NHL? All of high highlight clips are him standing at a standstill getting fed the puck for a shot. There's more to the game than posting up for a slapper and I don't know if he has that/can add it to make the league.

I like the pick. Seems like a great offensive building block going forward, especially on the PP. Impressed with his variety of quality shots, IQ and overall offensive game. He seemed to be in the right spots most of the time. Also nice to hear he isn’t a sieve defensively.

Skating is a bit concerning, but it appears he has improved significantly in that area in the last year and understands overcoming that weakness will take him to the next level. Excited to see how he progresses next year with his skating.

I would love it if we could add Emil Heineman or Daniel Torgersson, both LW, in the second round. They should go before our pick, but may still be there.
Evan Vierling as noted elsewhere might be a good choice as well.

We just need a good passer to find him trailing the play as the 3rd guy in and hit him for a 1 timer.

EZPZ. ;)

Let's just see how he looks this coming year and see the difference between the clips/we are all seeing now. AT least he knows he needs to fix it to be an NHLer....no delusion on his part.
