all in all, Dubas gave up a 1st, a 3rd, two 4th round picks, a 5th, and a 7th for Foligno, Nash, Hutton, and Rittich. none of those really look to be worth it. Dubas could have definitely given up less and gotten more for it, and probably should have

Again, early in the playoffs, and y'all would have freaked out, if he'd done nothing, or less. It's a lose/lose with this fanbase.

I remember Keefe trying it in the regular season with mixed results. Not sure if he would go back to it, but the D do play a lot of minutes, it would keep them a little fresher, they were skating in mud by the end of the last game.
He actually said he regretted it after the game.

Lebrun has and always will be a Habs homer... I wonder how much of that is him genuinely being a habs fan and how much of it is them feeding him info

I much prefer to have homerism in analysts for the most part. Maybe 1 on a panel to be neutral but put a couple homers on there too. Makes it much more fun and interesting to listen to.

I don’t like how a lot of the US national sports coverage is so bland and even from team to team. I imagine that has a lot to do with betting culture and why the audience is mostly tuning into those games, so it works for them. But the NHL shouldn’t try to copy that, we are mostly watching because we are fans, not looking to cover a spread or whatever that the US national coverage for the NFL and NBA’s audiences are more worried about.

Man we just cant stay healthy.

Foligno is out because of injury. I'm not sure that Dermott and Brooks are coming in for injury reasons. If there were coming in because of injuries, I think Keefe would already know who he was going to sit out. I think he just wants to get Dermott and Brooks a little bit of playing time so they don't get too rusty in case they are needed. And probably just wants to see what Brooks looks like in the playoffs.

It would seem the subtleties of a tongue in cheek remark are lost in a place where logic is often completely absent.

I will be sure to use the :sarcasm: in future.

I 100% thought you were being dead serious. With all the individual player hate on here, am me not paying any attention to who posts what, I just assumed you were not joking... as this is a legit comment I could see many on this board making. Either way, if serious my original response stands, and if you were not... well

Just hope we don’t have any surprise injury replacements. Tavares and Foligno are enough thanks. But if Thornton is one of them this team and PP1 just got better

Holl has been horrendous the last 2 back to backs

like... he's not built to play them. he just ends up being super slow.

This is what popped in my head immediately. When he plays tired, without a doubt the most useless player on the roster... just reaching and lunging all over the place and zero hard plays. I would not be upset by this.

Call me crazy, but I don't see us benching the RHD we had killing the final minute of last game, especially when he had a huge block with 5 seconds left

You don't win championships by sitting around and doing nothing. In an unusual year, draft uncertainty and high level of talent and depth already on the Leafs and in the minors, you have to roll the dice. If not, you get stuck in the valley of mediocrity for a decade and waste your top flight talent.

Leafs have their core locked up. They are going to need the right pieces surrounding them, not prospects and "maybes". They rarely win Cups. When it's time to rebuild (full rebuilds should be more rare for teams at the top of the Cap), then you start collecting First Rounders. Or, you find trades like Kapanen to Penguins.

I do find it interesting to read this thread and see the reaction to a person's paraphrasing of what LeBrun said on Leafs Lunch. After listening to the Mtl-Tor part of the conversation, here is my summary of what he said:

* He's surprised that more isn't being made of losing Jake Evans because he felt he was the second best forward on Montreal this year.
* He thinks the Leafs have handled their adversity well -- something he feels they didn't always do in the past
* He thinks that the Leafs will win the series but Montreal will make it tough
* He thinks that Kerfoot may have played his best game as a Leaf last night and that Nylander has been the Leafs best forward
* He thinks the back-to-back slightly benefits the Leafs

I too am excited to see what Brooks looks like in the playoffs. Was very impressed by him this year. And he somehow made it all click playing between Thornton & Spezza. Due to familiarity by all parties involved (especially the coach's familiarity), I fully expect that to be the fourth line tonight. Brooks threw some hits for a little guy when he was with us this season. He's gonna need to bring some edge tonight. Be interested in seeing what he's made of. Habs are going to be ramping up the physicality tonight I'd have to think

These 2 studs gotta keep on rolling.....

I don’t understand what’s “regrettable” about it. You literally just make your 3rd line 2 skaters and a member of the first line take a shift with the 3rd line, then they get a quick break when the 4th line is on

Maybe Nash n Jumbo are out and we go with extra D?

I can't think of any D deserving to be taken out of the lineup right now

You weren't the only one that thought is was a serious post. :thumbu:

Definitely the game I'm most nervous about. When was the last time Toronto had a 3-1 series lead?
