It isn't clear to me why Michkov staying would be more desirable to Putin them him becoming a star in the best league in the world. What does him staying accomplish?
Idk ask Alexander Mogilny why he had to sneak out of the USSR or why Yasiel Puig had to sneak out of Cuba. It's about control, national pride, etc. The Mogilny and Puig comparisons aren't apples to apples but it's the same idea. And I don't think it is necessarily Putin saying "bring me Michkov!" or anything like that, but I think Russia in general would rather say "Michkov is one of the best young players in the world and he has decided to stay and play in the far superior KHL" than "Michkov is doing great in the USA we are so proud of him!" especially at a time where thei country is involved in what appears at this point as a losing war effort.

Is that what's happening? Who knows but the more things like Fedotov's situation, then Michkov getting benched then loaned to an inferior team, it just I think is no unreasonable to wonder if something is up. We wouldn't have to worry if he wasn't there, but he is so here we are. More likely than not he comes over as planned in a few years but I personally am going to be sweating until he's here.

Serious question.
Why is every unusual occurrence in the KHL immediately interpreted as a potential anti-NHL scheme, with players punished for the glory of Russia?
It's like clockwork. The Red Scare all over again.

Btw, regarding Mogilny. You think a dude like him is gonna tolerate Soviet-style bullcrap (control, national pride)?
Well, he’s currently in the front office of KHL’s Amur Khabarovsk.

We just lost a top goalie prospect to Russian corruption, so everyone is gonna be on edge.

Well, funny things do happen in Russia, especially around windows, they seem to take defenestration seriously there.

But I agree, in Putin's Russia, the elite are too busy stealing the country blind to concern themselves with trivial issues other than people speaking up publicly. NHL players haven't seen to be reluctant to return home and see family and friends. Euorpeans and Americans playi in the KHL without worrying about being imprisoned and used as hostages.

The problem in the KHL is probably more that if you're politically connected, you don't have to play by the rules, so there are fewer checks and balances on crazy coaches and owners with political pull.

Because of the history just a short period of time ago and Russia appearing to be reverting back to those USSR ways. And yes, I think a guy like Mogilny would fall in line if need-be. Money and power talks. I think it is certainly something to keep to an eye on. On its face the series of events is not a smoking gun of anything sinister, but if you think there isn't anyone trying to influence him into not going, whether in a "friendly" way or a more sinister way, you are crazy.

if i want to answer your question my post is just deleted. So maybe ask yourself about the history of your country and all the bad rep about russian or sowjet sports history!

Shouldnt be that difficult!

I don't believe there's a Russian equivalent of the term "conflict of interest". Just doesn't translate properly

????

What's this gotta do with Russia? Intra-league loans are common practice in European sports. Happens all the time in MLS too.

I loved his shot in the second clip. Both the velocity and the placement. He was a couple inches to the left of the corner. I'm hoping that's going to be something he tries to do more often this season. After watching his games from last season it seemed like he either wasn't focused on taking shots or would have trouble getting the shot off undeflected

If he keeps taking shots like that he'll start potting a bunch
