Speculation: Roster/Trade Discussion Thread: Draft and FA addition

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
This is what I want, take swings down the middle. Enough with the wingers and D men.
I can live with a potential top pair stud at #5 ( Reid, Carels, Smits ) but I would 100% prefer to finally try and find a Center.... or two.

I'd spend nearly all draft capital on Centers.... until one hits. You do not get anywhere without that. Worry about everything else once you actually get your top center.

It can’t be stressed enough how massive it would be for the Rangers future if they just trade Trocheck, sit tight and make their draft picks this summer. You force the players that remain to step up or be moved. And show them that help is not on the way for once. I’ve seen enough good play from the collective group that it won’t be a hopeless case and will probably be fun next year.

About to get sucked into a stupid argument on the trade board, so retreating here before I get a ban.

The level of delusion there is something special.
I regret volunteering to mod that place some days.

Used to be my favorite part of the forum. Lately it's just been a circle... thing of those teams that are in favor right now. Those GMs can do no wrong. Their players are at maximum value always.

The rangers could have McDavid signed to a league minimum contract and people there would refuse to give a first round pick.

I don't understand why we find this so difficult.
Centers draft by the Rangers in the first round since the years began starting with a 2 are:
Miller, Andersson, Chytil
Fine, the years we had the top picks wingers were the 'no brainer' picks, but it's just crazy how little we ever invest in the center position and then just pray we can overpay for one in FA or jag one at the end of his career through trade

forgot to mention

player A 6mm aav expiring
player B 5.625aav 3 yrs left

it's a bit of a trick. player A is brock nelson at the time that colorado traded a 1st a 3rd and a very well regarded 1st round pedigreed C prospect with size skill and skating for him, and dumped kylington

@Fitzy nailed it
I don't think Tro will net that kinda haul in the offseason. Different dynamics than at the trade deadline and the heat of playoff race.

what are YOU talking about!? you (correctly) identify his theory as pure bullshit and yet *still* accept the assumption as a basis for justifying your dislike for Miller...

just say you don't like the guy, jeez.
Do you really not comprehend the qualifier “if”?
IF that’s why Miller didn’t want to be here I’m very glad he’s gone. I do not value him highly AS A PLAYER, and if this scenario was true, and you were right about me not buying this, I would not like him PERIOD. I was directly responding to the scenario posited. How this is confusing to anyone is beyond me. It seems to me that you just want to say I don’t like him PERSONALLY so you can dismiss my criticism of him as a player and my view that it was a good trade. Sorry to disappoint you, but even though I think he’s a meh player, he seems a pretty good kid and I wish him well.

Dolan's newfound competence coupled with his very public backing of Drury on multiple occasions, tells me more is going on with this team than meets the eye. If Brooks were still alive, we'd know about it imo. Vince' article today is not the first time he has brought up Quentin Dolan's rising influence at MSG. I have no clue if thats good or bad but its something.
Who is this Quentin Dolan? I've honestly never heard of him; is he one of James Dolan's kids?

When organizations get handed down to a 3rd generation, they go to "bleep" (don't get me started on the 3rd generation guy running the Pittsburgh Steelers, but that's a conversation for another day and another thread LOL Owner only cares about having non-losing seasons and squeaking into a playoff game, but I digress)

I don't follow the NY Knicks that closely, but it appears Dolan let Leon Rose do what he had to do, especially after cleaning up Phil Jackson's mess. Unfortunately, Drury, if left alone, is not likely to attain the same results as the Knicks have.

How the Rangers are run now with the Knicks' title win will be interesting to see. I, too, fear that they will try to win now when they don't have nearly enough pieces to do so and don't have the assets to acquire those pieces. Dolan is likely hungry for more champiosnhips, but this 2 year missed playoff stretch will become a 5-10 year playoff-less drought.
