Used to be my favorite part of the forum. Lately it's just been a circle... thing of those teams that are in favor right now. Those GMs can do no wrong. Their players are at maximum value always.

The rangers could have McDavid signed to a league minimum contract and people there would refuse to give a first round pick.

Its gotten absurd lately. There's lots of people on that board with little brother syndrome when it comes to the Rangers though

The asking price on Knies is sky high:

The Blackhawks did kick the tires on available top-six forwards. The Toronto Maple Leafs’ asking price for Matthew Knies was believed to be the No. 4 pick and one of the Blackhawks’ top players. I’m not sure who the Leafs asked for, but Frank Nazar or Anton Frondell seem possible. At that point, the Blackhawks are probably losing more than they’re getting.

The asking price on Knies is sky high:

kinda leads me to believe that Drury had a shitload of calls regarding #5 & Lafren and he stood pat even if it's tempting to go for Knies. I read that he was interested in moving the #5 for Byram yesterday but opted out.
There isn't any reason for the Rangers to move the #5 unless you're moving down or back in the draft but it does still scare me that he was thinking about moving that #5 yesterday for just a roster player, I really like Byram as a LHD and think he would've created an insanely good first pair with Fox but the timing is off.

I'd like Knies but the price does seem insane, especially where he'd be on a team without Matthews, Nylander, Tavares etc.
If we are interested in him, this is where i think we should be looking at McTavish as a 'budget Knies' and reclaimation project that we can potentially get for much, much less. Different players, but i wouldn't be surprised if their output here in a 2nd line roll ended up about the same

Trocheck + 26 for 4. If you consider valuation, the difference between picks 26 and 4 is the value of the 7th pick.

Is Trocheck's impact much different than a 2016 Derek Stepan? He was worth the 7th pick. I'm not saying that was a great trade for the Coyotes, clearly it wasn't, but I do not think it is that far off.

There may be an offsetting Rangers pick somewhere in there. The Rangers have 4 3rd rounders, use however many of those to get this over the top.

I'd much rather take players with both 4 and 5 in that hypothetical than trade up for just 1. Draft class really does seem even enough that you'd be getting 2 very good prospects with the 2 picks, but not getting a 'superstar' prospect with #2oa

I would hope they keep 4&5. But I have a hard time seeing Trochek bringing back 4. But Davidson shit the bed with 4 already once so I guess anything is possible in this market.
