The outcome of where they project Kulich into the lineup is also an interesting debate. He's playing some at center in Rochester with some mixed results - some days the scoring chances are there, some days not/some days the defensive game is there, some days not - and yet seems like he projects out as a mid-line winger. Savoie is small but playing as determined a center game as anyone out there in the WHL but is he going to be able to play at that size in at the next level? Should he be a winger too or does he transcend it like Point does for Tampa?

It'll more likely be Kulich than Savoie. And there's that stupid rule with Savoie that he can't spend all of next year in ROC because he was born on the cutoff date.
Could be, but I expect Kulich to stay in Rochester and get plenty of call ups until injury or trade gives him a full time open spot. Savoie would be on the team from day one, if he makes it.

This was an interesting read.

Here are the results:

Mattias Samuelsson (7) [Mitts, Dahlin, Comrie, Anderson, Tuch, UPL, ZG]
Vinnie Hinostroza (3) [Cozens, Krebs, Thompson]
Rasmus Dahlin (2) [Jost, Greenway]
Alex Tuch (2) [Skinner, UPL (I guess he split his vote...)]
Casey Mittelstadt (2) [Power, Quinn]
Zemgus Girgensons (2) [Samuelsson, Okposo]
Tyson Jost (1) [JJP]
Ilya Lyubushkin (1) [Thompson (another guy that got two votes)]
Peyton Krebs (1) [Bryson]
Jack Quinn (1) [Stillman]
Henri Jokiharju (1) [VO]

Nobody should be surprised that the 3 goalies all voted for Samuelsson:

And if they re-sign Girgensons, here is why:
Unsurprisingly the whipping boy among forwards (VO) votes for one of the whipping boys on defense. Even his underrated player takes are bad

GA2 was a complete and total team defensive breakdown in the neutral zone.

Two times they had possession (Cozens and Peterka) and turned it over at the blueline instead of getting it into the zone.

Jokiharju had position on the puck carrier Farabee, and Quinn and Power ignored Frost streaking up the ice. When farabee dished it to Frost at the blueline, Jokiharju was caught completely flatfooted. Not really his fault at all(as his responsibility was the puck-carrier Farabee). Once the pass happened and he knew he was beat, he should not have tried to play the puck, and probably should have taken a penalty by interfering with Frost, but to hang that play strictly on Joker is ignoring the context of the entire play and lapses of the entire team on the ice.

Too often Jokiharju finds himself caught between two opponents to cover and it is often due to defensive breakdowns by the entire team (more often than not Power makes pretty poor decisions when reading the play that hangs his partner out to dry- I love power, and would still take him 1st overall over Beniers, but he is young and bad at reading the ice defensively still).

The fact that Jokiharju led the team in ice-time, I have to assume that Granato sees the same thing I am seeing when he watches the film and that it is not just Jokiharju playing poorly like many seem to feel on these forums. But what I can't understand is how Granato thinks that he should continue to keep Joker and Power together given their propensity for breakdowns. Jokiharju is not the player that can pick up the slack when other players miss assignments. he is not quick enough, physical enough, or skilled enough to make great defensive plays.

I think he could be a solid 4/5 if paired with a strong defensive two-way partner, but he is still a work in progress and is playing way over his weight-class being asked to play as a top 4 defensive stalwart and Power's safety valve.
Joker pinched instead of physically challenging the player, that's why he slipped through 2 of our guys; if he would have closed the gap, I doubt the opposing player would have gotten through.

My guess is that Adams does absolutely nothing until the next trade deadline. Maybe flips some picks for other picks.
I think he is active around the draft. The team took a bigger step than he expected and he is smart enough to see the progression wasn't fluky like past years. He has also been here long enough to evaluate the team and identify his core.

I think he looks to upgrade between the pipes, looks for two top four defensemen and probably a reclamation project forward who can be the 13/14 (Max Jones/Kiefer Bellows type).

I don't think he will break the bank on any trade via prospects, but he has three first rounders from last year progressing very nicely, so picks could be available.

I LOVE those lines without him. In a must win situation, you hope Donny sticks with these lines. VO hasn't provided anything...even on the PP... there is no reason for him to be in the lineup for tomorrows game

I would agree. Of the four guys shuffling in that line, Mitts has been chugging along with his playmaking (7 assists in his last 4 games), Greenway on a 2-game goal scoring streak, Jost has two assists in his last 3 games... and Vic.

With Regards to Weegar, so I looked at his contract. His buyout is managable after year 4. Pretty much every buyout after year 4 is 2M in deadcap a year x double the amount of years left on the deal. While not a GREAT escape valve, it's do-able.

Even still.....eventually the cap will go up and Weegar's $6.25M might wind up being only slightly annoying towards the end of the deal. And there's always a team out there who'll take a contract with the right sweetener.

If Calgary is blowing it up....and Weegar wants to come here.........it's a picture-perfect fit for us.

Can hardly believe the takes from the players is so much different than posters here.......amazing.

It's the forum darling Samuelsson and then plenty of players that have support from specific posters here. I don't see anything that stands out except the Jokiharju vote from VO.

It’s nice to see Hino get some love. Obviously has his limitations but if you swapped him 1-for-1 with Vic I think they’re better off.

Swap them every other game. Hino is at his most effective his first game back after being benched. Once he's in the lineup for a few games, he becomes allergic to playing below the offensive dots and contact-averse.

Interesting to see three centers he has played with all giving him some love.

When he's going, he's that 3rd/4th line guy who can move up the lineup in a pinch and not look completely out of place. His problem is that he only shows up like that 1 out of every 3 or 4 games..........and is a complete liability when he's not in form. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde stuff.
