Well Bishop was no real cash, so he was just unused cap, and this team was never going to reach the ceiling, so it was purely a cautionary move to reach the floor.

I think Schultz would just be another whipping boy here playing in the top 4 unless he were playing with Sameulsson. I just don't think he'd be a really good fit with Power.

I think Adams and Granato have to worry more about chemistry and which players can fit roles more than who is just a better upgrade all around.

This team needs another Defensive D or a defensive oriented two-way D in a bad way imo.

When Sameulsson returns I would like to see Granato end the "converting Joker to a defensive defenseman" experiment. He doesn't have the snarl or the physical net-front presence to be that guy effectively. Move him to the third pairing with Stillman, and give him a little more freedom than being Power's safety-net. Keep Lyubushkin with Power and see if they can't find some chemistry.

I can't see the results being much worse than what we are currently watching.
Again. I’m not disputing your assessment of Schultz. He’s not a great player and he’s not a great fit. We’re in agreement there.

And I agree he’d be a whipping boy.

He’s a replacement level #4/#5

But that’s still a better player than all but 3 of our current defensemen. That’s 1,000 minutes that Bryson/clauge/Pilut aren’t playing

Ok, I see what you are saying, and I agree he'd be a nice upgrade on Bryson/Clague, and I even think he'd be a great Vet in the dressing room, but at 1M more than his current deal, he'd be coming in at 4M.

That is a lot of change for a piece that seems to be a questionable fit if moved up the lineup. I also think a deal like this would likely cut into the budget in other areas. If Adams has free reign to spend the cap, then sure, short-term overpay deals for bottom pairing solutions helps the current team. But I have to assume there is a multi-year budget that is independent of the cap, and so a move like this cuts into upgrades elsewhere, which reinforces the narrative of finding the best fit for the biggest holes as the priority.

A thought that I've had:

Assuming the NTC isn't an issue (he has a 12 team NTC)

Olofsson for Silfverberg.

Salaries are reasonably close. He's still an effective defensive player even though his offense has dropped off.

Think Peterka and quinn could have a similar jump next season to what cozens had this season. What u guys think ?

Very happy with that new line , looking forward to Kulich also .

Any update on rosen should he not be in NHL soon ? 3 year from drafted after this summer 14 pick . Should be able to play soon here ? Or is he busting ?

He is very small and is only in his first AHL season. He is continuing to develop, but is not NHL ready yet. I expect another full season at the AHL level. I wouldn't call him a bust, but I do not see where he fits into the Sabres lineup in the future. He is near the top of my list of trade assets for use this summer.

Think the same , i would trade him , how is Savoie doing ? Will he be good ?

I'd expect both Jack and JJ to score 40-50 points and have a more stable level of effort over the whole season. You can tell when they are tired. I don't think they'll ever reach Cozens level.

I don't think Rosén will play more than a handful games for the Sabres in the future. Maybe he can make up for lost development time but what he does well won't really translate to the NHL imo.

I would disagree. Quinn will be as good if not better than Cozens.

Would you guys be willing to sign a major free agent goalie to a 2 -3 year contract and buy time for Devon Levi ?

If we wanna make the playoffs next season which needs to be a mandate as this team is ready to compete for the playoffs starting next season and there is still a chance we can make it this year , slim but we aren’t eliminated until it’s official . The Sabres desperately need a legit #1 . No more Stop gaps and I have given up hope in UPL unfortunately

I would be open to overpaying for a guy like Fredrick Anderson on a 2 year contract but no way I do it for 3 years .

We have the salary cap space to do it short term especially with Okposo coming off the books .

Thoughts ?

Jack Quinn could easily reach Cozens level and even higher

I think you gotta. Anderson has gotta call it quits at some point- he can’t be a starter, that was supposed to be UPL or Comrie, I guess, and since they aren’t getting it done you gotta cut ties with the old guy, make UPL backup, and get a solid 1a. Otherwise you gotta get rid of UPL, and I don’t see how that works.

If UPL is part of a trade as a piece in obtaining another goalie, I could see that. Comrie is the backup, Levi's working on getting up to speed in Rochester, perhaps with Subban as the vet "3" in case of injury in Buffalo, and the new tender becomes the #1.

Rosen will have an elite shot and elite speed. Will he translate to the NHL? Don't know. Would love him to be fellow '19 draft pick Wyatt Johnston; but he's not.

Despite that, he will still only be 20 years old for most of next season. Because of his size, I think he will spend his entire ELC (two more years) in the AHL.

Forced? Eh, I don't know if I would like to be forced into any trade.
Hello Chain? Terry here. Gary says we will win the draft lottery this year, but he says we have to give up some of our other draft capital and trade for some big salary and stop this "developental" bs.

Adin Hill baby, I am willing to die on that Adin Hill for two years. We need another 6'6 player too.

So he could become good ? Why did they even take him ? bad scouting ?

If you were forced to do a blockbuster trade during the summer, who would be the target and who/what would you give up?

I think if you were to add one player that would have the biggest difference in points next year? Hellebuyck (assuming he doesn’t want to re up in Winnipeg). You sign him to whatever deal he wants. IF Levi is ever ready, you can trade him for a kings ransom.
