Can you imagine if the people here on this board actually had a real say in making roster decisions?

Or do they??

SCARY!!!

PS:. Of course this is a joke. WE ALL KNOW this board is STRICTLY for fans.

Do something Darcy!

We are back on the bubble but this season will be dead and buried soon if he doesn't get help on defense.

This might be a great draft to have multiple 2nds, especially if we can pick under the radar russians, but I think the ROI on getting to play a full season of meaningful hockey is high as well. So I say spend it on players that we can use for at least 1.5 seasons.

The team needs that experience to prepare for next season and if we squeak into the playoffs (would be a miracle even with reinforcements) I think we can surprise every single opponent in the first round.

We are soft

The make-up of our team would not translate well to the playoffs.

When is Kulich,Ostlund , rosen and Savoie NHL ready ?

Possibly lineup with all of them in ?

Okposo, Jost , Hinostroza and Olofsson out and in with them when they are ready ?

Kulich & Rosen are way closer to NHL ready at this point given that they are playing in the AHL.

Savoie is NHL or WHL again next season. And given how this season has gone thus far, I would be surprised if he isn't sent back to the WHL next season.

Ostlund is under contract in Sweden for 23-24 and he was planning on playing there again next season.

So, you could see one, or both, of Kulich and Rosen up next season depending on the moves that Adams makes over the summer. But, most likely, I think Kulich & Rosen are up and down between Buffalo and Rochester next season.

And I would expect Savoie and Ostlund to spend some time in 24-25 in Rochester.

But, it is hard to really project that far down the road.

The Leafs have a goalie now in Samsinov.

But sure, soft doesn't generally translate well in the playoffs.
The Leafs also play better team defense, and allow almost 5 less shots per game. They also allow fewer high/medium danger chances 5 on 5, but more glaringly Buffalo has allowed almost twice as many high danger chances on the PK. Toronto does a good job of forcing shots from the outside and not giving up a lot down low or in the slot which is an area Buffalo greatly needs to improve on. Improve that and watch the goalies save %'s increase.

If we don't qualify Jost at 2.25, he becomes an UFA. Are we ineligible to sign him as an UFA if we don't qualify him as a RFA?

thry can sign him before the QO for less and theycan sign him after no QO is given

Kulich and Rosen are call ups in 23/24. Full time in 24/25
Ostlund likely pushed a year later with him in Europe where he diesnt come here till 24/25

Savoie gets complicated because next tears appears to be CHL or NHL. No AHL. It’s possible he plays 4C role on Sabres next year

I wouldn't be surprised if Okposo, Jost, or Olofsson are on the team next season. Okposo for leadership, Jost because he fills a role, and Olofsson just because he'll still be under contract. Kulich and Rosen will probably get games in next season but I'm not sure that they'd outright replace those guys immediately.

I'm sorry, but why exactly do Savoie, Ostlund and Kulich make this team softer? They have yet to play a game in the NHL, yet you are already labeling them as soft?
Because I've watched Ostlund, Rosen, Kulich.

I imagine Kulich will figure it out, or fill out his frame hopefully.

At this point though, I'm wondering if we have scouts that actually watch NHL games.

It’s terrible sarcasm, as the point of it is that you can tell it’s sarcasm.

Regardless, not being equal to Cal Clutterbuck doesn’t make a player soft. Soft is William Nylander in the playoffs.
It's possible we'll make 15-20 years without the playoffs the way I see this organization moving.

But at least there's entertainment now.

And it's only because they reluctantly held on to a guy that this "Sabre fan board" crucified mercilessly for 2 years.

Some day opposing teams will play their number 1 goalie against us.

I can feel it coming

They’re soft in the same way that the Red Wings are a better team. Also known as “made up in the mind”.
The guys I see can play a heavy game but aren't built to sustain that style over the course of a series. They'll wear down quick, or start finding the Hino areas of the ice. Tampa Bay would start stacking bodies, with their savvy veteran plays.

Agreed about the Wings. There isn't a single off season move of theirs I like better than the claim on Jost, and Ned ain't no Luuu.

At least Tampa can play any style. It’s not just “check into oblivion”.

Not this year or next. Rosen or Kulich likely get some callup games later this year and next, but are not likely starting thier rookie NHL season till 2024. Ostlund and Savoie are likely starting their professional careers in the AHL in 2024 with 2025 the earliest for the NHL.

Also, we do have ALOT of other good prospects that were not first rounders that could easily compete with those guys for playing time and roster spots.

Until they actually prove it and make it......NONE of them should be planned to be in the lineup. Don't build your NHL team on just "hope."
